I woke up with a start, my body aching as memories of the previous night came flooding back. Rafferty's face flashed in my mind, his eyes gleaming with desire as he pinned me down. I shuddered, feeling a wave of revulsion wash over me.
I tried to shake off the feeling of vulnerability, telling myself I was safe now. But the memory of Rafferty's hands on me, his hot breath on my skin, made my skin crawl. I felt like I'd been violated, even though he hadn't fully succeeded in his intentions.
I threw off the covers and got out of bed, my mind racing with thoughts of escape. I couldn't stay here, in this pack, with Rafferty lurking around every corner. I needed to get away, to find a place where I could be safe and free from his grasp.
