Chapter 25: Dismissing the maid

2033 Words
Prince Khalil and Crystal sat at the dining table staring at one another. They had had a long night of argument and as they sat in the royal dining room facing one another, it kind of sparked light and hope in Khalil's heart. He likes seeing this lady at the other side of the table, it means a lot to her, and although she gives him headaches all through the evening, she is not a bad dinner companion at all. Well, on that aspect, he is glad that someone had joined him for dinner tonight. Since King Khalil had gone to war, Khalil had been so boring, like seriously, he does everything alone, and it is so useless to him. Now, all he tries to do is find some entertainment for himself. Well, there is nothing he can do right now except beg for attention from this little girl. She isn't worth his attention, yet he is worth being in her presence. What was served tonight is just grilled turkey, complemented with potatoes. The aroma from it is heavenly, and the more the flavor strikes their nostrils, the more enchanted they are to receive it. When the servant had come to dish out some food to serve them, Khalil had boldly asked the maid. to serve Crystal first, with the motive of 'Ladies first' After he blurted out those words, he had a cherry face Crystal staring at him. It is kind of awkward, he could barely believe his eyes, and there is absolutely nothing that he can do for himself. After that, he observed how a small plate of food was placed in front of the lady. Widening his eyes, he immediately yelled at the maid. "What kind of a small meal is that you are serving that lady?" Khalil asked. Out of embarrassment, Crystal tried covering up the whole show as if she didn't notice that she had been served as a slave. More than a slave. This annoyed prince Khalil and since the maid wasted more time to react, he said in his harsh yet reserved tone discussing her. "You might leave us now," Khalil blurted out. This caused Crystal to widen her eyes, like seriously, she wasn't expecting any of this to happen, it was more like a weird dream to her. But then, the maid doesn't want to leave instead, she pretended like she didn't listen to what the prince had said. Well, it is some news that will shock her so well, and so badly. When prince Khalil noticed that the maid had snubbed him, he knew he had to take action, like seriously, an ordinary maid disrespects him in this manner, that is absurd, more like something he couldn't believe his eyes. Coming from someone like Crystal, Khalil could easily understand it, he could probably let it slip by, but from his servant, oh my gosh! that calls for concern. In a deep voice, Khalil brushed out to the lady aggressively. "Hey, lady! I am talking to you. Drop the dishing spoon and leave this place now," he said. His voice startled the maid, and in panic, she drew the dishing spoon to the floor, alongside a breakable plate. She had not done this willingly, but then, Khalil was not ready to listen to it. In anger, he stood from the table, yelling at the lady. "For heaven's sake, girl, leave this place, just go, run along now," Khalil said chasing her say as if she is a dog. Curtseying, she tried to apologize. It happens that prince Khalil's mind is more than made up. He didn't want to see her five meters from his sight, for he might lose his temper. "I am sorry, prince..." the maid's words trailed when Khalil burst out in anger, silencing him. "I said get the hell out of here, just leave us alone, you have done a lot of damage already, clumsy lady," he spat aggressively. If not for anything in the world, Khalil's words are enough to make the maid want to go crazy. The thoughts on their own effect can make someone go crazy. In total fear, the maid curtseyed once more and ran for her life. It is something that is important to do, if she would have not run for her life, who knows Khalil might harm injure her which is something she wouldn't want to do no matter what. After the maid had left, the dining room became calm. It looked more like a private dinner for couples because when we had arrived at the dining room, Khalil had refused to eat at the family table, it looked weird especially when family and friends are not around. This had made him settle for the smaller dining section where he can see everything, especially his dear Crustal. The table was a small round table, with no candles on it because it didn't look like a romantic dinner party, instead, it looked so natural and had no activities around, till they had to welcome them with that drama. Khalil started it and his actions caused chills to run through Khalil's spine. She barely expected that to happen, but on another point, Crustal felt like he had actually planned this thing, it was not normal at all to just stop the maid from serving the food, just because he scooped out a very small portion of the meal, and had served him with it. Crystal yawned from all these activities, he was so damn sick and tired of having these things play through her mind, it is so confusing. Crystal did not even bother looking at the food in front of her, also, she did not do anything but stare at the broken pieces of glass on the floor. How of a beast has Khalil become? she wondered. She would never know unless he tells her about it, and if he doesn't want to tell jer about it, it is of no use to force it at all. But then, he has to polish his mind, it is not the best and unless he finds a way to amend it, the negative trait will live with him forever. This is sad news, she can barely even think of the consequence of when Khalil will want to yell at her too. It might be terrifying, so horrible that she wouldn't even want to think about it at all. "I hope you are happy now, she has left, but I tell you something you do not know, don't be a ride prince that will oppress his people. I am the one you talk to me like that, before you conclude your sentence or even know what is going on, you must have had a strawberry pie on your face," Crystal blurted out in anger. Prince Khalil heard everyone the left Crystal's lips, and he had his heart burning him out at once. The thought is horrible, and he feels like nothing is going to pass out if he allows this little girl to challenge him. The aim why they had come here in the first place is to have dinner together and in tranquility, with no third party invading their privacy. It is truly going to be awkward to see someone invade their private space, especially when he had not planned it. Well, it is not his fault neither is it the maid's own, but somebody has to carry the blame. Fortunately, he didn't put that crown on Crystal's head, so she should be happy. But no, as ladies always are, trying to support their folks. That wouldn't happen with him then because he will always find a way to make the road smooth for him. It is Khalil's plan to ask the maid to leave them alone, but he had not planned that his words could be a little bit believable, and would the poor maid to accept with terror what he had to say. To the prince, he just wanted Crystal and him to stay here, doing nothing apart from helping to eat their savory meals and relax themselves. Besides, the reason why Khalil had brought her here tonight is for her to eat to her satisfaction. A while ago when he had discovered that while she was at the dungeon for the past days, she had only been served with stale bread and cheese. Like who the hell gives that me to human beings. He must have been so blind not to have even noticed it, just thinking about it aches his heart so much. This is his kingdom, and these are the basic things that he should know about, the earlier he knows the better it would be for them. Sighing, she tried her best to brush things aside, as much as possible. Raising his bead now, Khalil stared at the lady in front of him as if he was not seeing her well. The way he glared at her shows that he has a lot of things to say, and indeed, he had several things passing through his mind which he wanted to tell her, especially considering what she had just said, he has to strike the iron now while it is still hot. The anger that he poured on the maid was still mildly quenching, and now, he has to hit it hard, there is nothing like what she wants, Prince Khalil is the master here, therefore, the lady has to listen and obey him and only to him. Staring at her from raised chin almost touching the ceiling, he said to her in that awkward annoying voice he always hates using it on her because he thinks that she is too cute to suffer that effect. "You listen to me, you little troublemaker, I want to tell you something, and I wouldn't repeat myself again. You mind your so damn business because you saw how that lady disrespected me a while ago," Khalil spat disdainfully. This caused Crystal to raise her eyebrows as if not believing what she just said. She even asked a question to clarify her doubts. Khalil had been the only rude person in this room, and no one else, why then is he trying to put the blame on that lady, that is bad, so bad for her to even think about it. "Meaning?" Crystal shot starting at him. Prince Khalil had slightly expected her to ask this question, and as she did, Khalil jumped into answering the question which she longed for. "What? you have the guts to ask me "meaning?" okay when the maid had disrespected me, had to not seen it to reprimand her? or was she not standing close to your chair. No, you allowed it, so how she served you, like a dog, in fact, even an animal in this castle eats more than what is in that plate. No, I could never have let her go free, never. As she said so, this caused Crystal to want to stand up from her desk and walk to his side and give him a heavy blow across the face. It is not worth it, not at all, and as she thought about it, Crystal knew well to mind her business. It is worth it to do so. Sighing, Crystal decided to ask something different, at least, it should not be something that would earn her a slap across the face. Well, it seems like she failed on that part as her words were even more provocative than what she had expected them to be. "Ehmm! prince Khalil, whether your maid puts me the highest mountain of food, that wouldn't change the fact that I am a captive to your kingdom, and I deserve a death penalty. I know this is just formalities to have me sit at this table with you, maybe to show off your fancy dinner table, or the kind of meal you eat. Wow! I have seen it, and I must tell you, it's impressive, but these things don't move me at all, I will still remain your slave," Crystal said. Khalil was shocked as he stared at her in bewilderment.
