When I opened my eyes, the bed was vacant. As I rolled onto my side in preparation to get up, I became acutely aware of the widespread pain throughout my body. When I attempted to think back on all that had place the night before, I couldn't help but let out a moan. A few seconds passed while my mind was blank, and during that time, the truth of the events that transpired the previous evening played through my thoughts. Immediately after that, my throat became dry. It's hard for me to comprehend that something as routine as having supper turned into an ordeal like that.
