chapter 28, the week before the ball

Taylor pov

I was just finishing up work when my boss came walking up to me, He was handsome wolf, yes i work with Wolves, He was also on the prowl to find his mate, we first thought it was me, We dated a few times, went out to a movie then ate dinner, we decided to wait on the mating part until we knew for sure we were mates. But when he shifted a year ago, We found out that we weren’t, i was a little sadden, But i knew it was for the best anyways, sooner or later one of us would had found our mates and then someone would had gotten hurt, his smile brighten up his face, he had shoulder length dark hair that he sometimes work in a ponytail or a man bun. He had the brightest green eyes, I was thankful that i brought a jacket with me since it was starting to get cold outside he helped me put it on,

“Thanks, so what are you doing tonight instead of going home and thinking about the mate you plan to find one day?” he smirked at me, with a twinkle in his eyes, I wonder what he was up to or what his plans were with that little twinkle in his eye,

“Well since its a week from the mating ball, I need to find a suit, I want to look my best when i walk into that place, I do have one question, im not so sure if you would agree to this, But how would you like to be my date to the ball. We can walk in there together, then just seprate, im sure you are wanting to find your mate, You know i want to find mine, But shoot Taylor, lets just go together, and if we don’t find our mates, then lets choose each other.” my eyes went huge, my mouth fell open, was he forreal, a werecat mated to a werewolf, well why not, i mean if we don’t find our mates, Kimmie was twirling her tail around, she liked the idea, she liked Bobby alot, they even went for a run together a few times, alright it's decided,

‘Alright Bobby, it's a deal. If we don’t find our mates by the end of the night, then we will choose each other. What will your father say? Are you the next alpha in line when he steps down?” He chuckled softly he already had that planned that snot head,

‘He’s already in on it, i have talked to him about this the other day, he said he is fine with it as long as the pack is okay with it,” This was just crazy, I looked at him in a new way now, He was built like body builder build he had muscles in all the right places, tattoos up and down his arms, he was good looking, and i always liked what i saw when he walked into the room,

“Kimmie just remember, this isnt on soild ground right now, if we find our mate, then the plan is over okay, i wont reject my mate, i dont care who is he or where he came from, i wont do what was done to us.”

‘Taylor, what happens if Callahan is our mate?” I didn’t think of that, What would happen if we were mates. did he know all along that we were and he just wants to reject me when i walk into that hall, I’m not scared anymore, if he's going to reject me then he will reject me, I might not reject him back just for what he done to me, i want him to feel every pain he had done to me.

‘We will see Kimmie, we will see, until then we need to find a dress to impress our mate. So let's go shopping tomorrow, I'll take Kelly with me and a few others, i know they want to find their dresses. Hopefully, all the good dresses are not sold out by now,

‘Alright Bobby, im off tomorrow, i'm going to go with a few girls to find my dress and theirs. I'll see you the day after tomorrow. good luck finding your suit,” he nodded and hugged me, i felt warm and safe, it was like Kimmie already accepted him as our mate, all i had to do is say the words, but i can’t right now and he knows he can’t not until that night is over, I got into my car i bought a week ago, it was nice not walking all the time, When I walked i always felt that i was being followed like someone was watching me and making sure i made it home, maybe my mind was playing tricks on me, but who knows, I drove home humming to the music that was on the radio, if i was walking it would had take a few hours to get home, but i was driving so it only took forty five minutes, i parked the car than went into my room,. i made a few phone calls, all the girls i was thinking about that i could go with already had their dresses, well dam it all to heck, i guess i will be going by myself tomorrow, I took a shower, dried off and got dresses and shorts and a night shirt, i was ready to bed, i was exhusted from today, a poor wolf came limping into the vet office, everyone was freaking out, some of the employees, are humans so we had to be careful with what we do, I knew it was a real wolf, not a shifter, i picked it up careful, He growled at me

‘Hey now, you came to me for help, so easy now, im not going to hurt you, I made sure there was no s**t wounds on him, he had bite wounds on his legs and neck, i cleaned the wounds and gave him a rabies shot, he was not to fund of that, but it had to be done, I put him in the cannel until i know for sure he was going to be okay, Once he was up and whinning wanting out, i knew he was going to be okay, we moved the cage into the woods, making sure no rogues were out and about, We opened the cage to let him out, he stepped out sniffing the air. He then howled i guess his pack was around because they howled back at him, they came forward just a few feet away from us, he moved away turning back just to look at us once like he was thanking me for helping him, then he ran off toward his pack, now what was that all about, I thought it was cool helping a wolf out in need, Tomorrow is going to be a long day, i saved up enough for my dress and what else i needed, i wanted to make sure i looked good, because when i find my mate, i might just mark him right there and then, and then go home with him, who knows, What i started to worry about what if its actually Callahan that is my mate? What is he going to do when he finds out I will just have to wait and see what happens that night,

The next morning I had a test from Jane, she said she would meet me at the mall to find a dress, she was the only one that didn't have one yet, I got dressed in ripped jeans and a pull over shirt that said Rock on, on the front of the shirt, my hair put in a ponytail slipped on my shoes then left, it took me about thirty minutes to get to the mall, Jane was sitting in her own car with the music blasting waiting for me to get their, She was a rocker, and a werecat, We met about a few months ago when i went to go get food, she was the one that sniffed me out, i was trying to avoid her when i was going down a aisle with my buggy putting apples in my cart, But she spotted me and cornered me asking where my pack was, I sighed because i knew she wouldnt stop asking quesitons until i told her my story, We became friends right away and sometimes hung out, She wanted me to join her pack, I told her it could be dangrous right now. I needed to wait and make sure it was okay. than i would think about it, she was a punkrocker, one side of her hair was pink, the other half was a light purple, she was wearing hoop earrings, she had a pericing in her lip with a spike collar around her neck, she was wearing combat boots, with leather black pants and a leather top, i thought she looked cute, but others just looked at her like she was crazy, if they only knew that she was the sweeties girl i had every known, We went into one of the stores, to my surprised she picked out a pink pattern dress with beads goind down the dress, she picked out a few dresses, that didnt seem her and only one dress that would be like her, When i asked her why she did it, she said,

“I wanted to try something new for myself, i can’t always have this look can I, I like how i look, but sometimes you just have to be normal every now and then,” I agreed to it, I tried on a few dresses and bought all three, that way i can decide which one i want to wear that night, I bought shoes to match, Jewellry, purses and hair products and makeup, I was done shopping, we put our stuff in the our cars, than went back inside to shop some more, we stopped to eat first, that's when i felt someone watching me, I lifted up my head looking around, i wish whoever it was would just come forward, i was so sick of this, We ate then stopped a little bit more, then we said our goodbyes,

“I'll see you next week, girl. i can’t wait to see what you decide to wear,”

“Me to, see you then, she sped off blurring her music, I got into my car about to start it when someone tapped on my window, I was nervous, it was actually Susy Tabby sister, I got out of the car wondering what she wanted, i was nervous, was this a trap,

“Kimmie be ready to shift,”

‘Don’t worry, I will im watching and listening,”

Susy pov

I was at the mall with a few girls. I was helping them find dresses for the ball, I smelled this scent I hadn't smelled in a very long time. i looked out of the shop toward the food court, it was Tabby, she was with a punk rock girl, this girl looked kinda cute, I wondered if she was going to the ball too, i would like to get to know this girl, she looked cool looking, I followed them a ways watching the shop. I had forgotten about my friends, I mindlinked them and told them that I would meet them back home and not to worry. When they were leaving, i saw them get in their cars, I waited until punk rocker left, and then i hurried over, knocking on Taylors window. i knew i scared her, but i wanted to see my friend, its been so very long, i wanted to find out if she was coming, I could tell she was on her guard, her cat was on the edge of coming out, I held out my hands when she got out of the car to let her know i was meaning her no harm, When she was infront of me, i hugged her tightly,

I let go when I felt her stiffness. Of course, she would feel this way. It's been a few years, and she probably thinks this is all a setup. I slowly let go of her so she knew i meant no harm, I gave her a smile

“Oh my goddess Taylor, i haven't seen you in a few years. Your look so good, Are you coming to the ball,. Don’t worry, The king says if anyone tries to say anything out of the way or even put their hands on you they would be locked up until after the ball, Him and his mother wants you back in the kingdom. He's looking for his mate. Can you believe that, with all the females in the kingdom, he is throwing a royal ball just to find her,” I knew she was scared. i didn’t know what else to say, I just hope she realizes i am on her side,

Sorry I've been sick. But I'm getting better. Food poisoning is not fun to have. I'm starting to write again. I want to get up to ten chapters before I post. So be on the look out everyone. .
