4. Forgotten

CALEN’S POV: “That doesn’t make any sense.” I said out loud and for some reason seeing the pain that crossed her face made my heart ache. “I am not your enemy Calen. I don’t know why you don’t remember and why actually no one in the pack remembers me but trust me I am not your enemy.” She turned around and left my office. We were watching her leaving and I quickly notified the guards to let her pass. I decided to let her go but my mind was working pretty hard and in the end I could not handle it and went after her. Partly also because Thoth could not stop whining and urging me to follow her. ‘Why?’ I asked him strongly. ‘I don’t know. I just feel we should be close to her.’ His answer was explaining nothing but in the end I stood up and ran after her.  I caught it pretty quickly. She was walking towards the main gate and it looked like she was heading towards the town. Her movements were so elegant and soft and I could not let my eyes off of her. Her appearance was really strange. She had below waist long silvery white hair and her golden eyes were alluring and magical. When she walked through the shadow her pupils were glowing like two suns. Her hips were swinging from side to side as she was elegantly walking and despite her small growth she was looking extremely feminine, not to mention her cuteness.  She suddenly started to run and I had no choice but to run after her. I was expecting almost anything but the speed. I swear she was almost as fast as a werewolf but I never saw any werewolf like her. In about twenty minutes we arrived in the town as I was expecting and to my surprise she directly entered Rosie’s shop. I was standing away from the window so she didn’t know I was following her and called back to my pack for a car. I decided to pick them both up after they finish and bring them back to the pack. Maybe Rosie would bring some light into this matter.  They talked for some time and the car was already waiting for us. They both appeared from the back room and it looked like they were going to leave the shop. Next second I heard the bell Rosie had above the door and both of them were out of the shop. “Rosie. Is this woman really my mate?” They both stopped walking, turning to my direction and they were visibly surprised by me. “I am afraid she is.” Rosie answered which made me check the woman standing beside her one more time. I really had no memories of her and for me it was like seeing her for the first time. I didn’t even feel any pull or anything so I didn’t understand how she could be my mate. I was definitely sure that no matter what mate pull would always work.  “What is going on here? Why don't I remember her?” I pulled myself from the wall as I was leaning over it until now and was heading towards the car, showing the direction to both of them quietly asking them to join me. “I will explain everything later but right now I need to figure out what your lovely mate did to create such a mess right after we came back from that cursed land.” Rosie answered to me and she seemed extremely bothered by this problem. I was not even sure how it was affecting her.  “I still don’t understand. How could I forget about my mate? How long do I know you?” They both climbed into the car and I took the place beside the driver. Rei was looking hurt despite the fact that she was trying to hide the pain and pretend to be alright. Seeing her like that made me feel guilty. I knew it was not my fault that I lost my memories since actually the whole pack didn’t remember anything related to her but still I felt like it was my fault and my failure.  “These woods are my home. You met me the moment you had moved your pack to this woods.” She replied to me. If she was right, then I was mated with her almost a year right now so it was deeply strange forgetting one year of my life. When I was playing the memories from the past year in my mind at some point I felt like they were strangely blurred one or blank one. Some memories didn’t actually make much sense either but other than that, everything seemed normal.  I let out a loud sigh as I was really bothered and annoyed by this whole situation. I wanted to ask another question but Rosie was faster to speak. “Well,” Rosie exhaled loudly. “This would be for a very long story if I am supposed to explain this. Let’s just say your little mate is someone very special with unique abilities.” This made me wonder if she was really a witch as I was thinking before but I never heard about any witch that would be able to run as fast as a werewolf.  “She is a witch like you?” I asked her loudly starting again at this strangely looking girl. She definitely did not look like a werewolf with those soft features and soft skin. She looked so delicate, weak and airy. “No. I am a wolf.” She answered me strongly, crossing her hands in front of her in a defensive gesture. I might have insulted her by that question. “You don’t look like one.” I said without any emotions in my voice. I didn’t want to insult her, I just stated the facts. “You don’t like it?” She asked me and I saw how eagerly she was awaiting the answer. I had to be careful about what I was going to say because if she was seriously my mate and for some reason I had forgotten about her I didn’t want to hurt her more.  “You don’t look like a wolf but I can’t say I don’t like it. It is just different.” I tried to actually avoid the answer. Thoth was literally barking in my mind, shouting at me to be careful and not hurt this little delicate girl sitting at the back seat. “Very diplomatic answer.” Rosie replied instead of her and I saw pain in Rei’s eyes. One was hurt and the second one was teasing me for my reply. Seriously talking with women was always dangerous no matter what you were talking about.  “I am sorry. What else was I supposed to say? Your appearance has some sort of magic and it’s alluring but it is also unlike anything I had ever seen. You look like you are not from this world.” I tried to fix my previous answer but they still didn’t seem pleased.  “That’s much better.” Rosie uttered quietly which made me scoffed. This woman was really unbelievable. Either way. I can already see that she is special but what does that have to do with my memories and actually with the memories of everyone in my pack.” I tried to continue with our conversation and move out of this dangerous topic. I never liked when a woman asked me about her appearance. Even Tamara and Emily sometimes asked me about their dress or something especially if they wanted to surprise their mates and every single time I had a problem to answer. Hannah was giving me even harder times since literally scolded me if I was not able to answer to her liking.  “There are actually two possibilities. Sure you remember where you were one month ago and also why you were there” It sounded like Rosie already knew something more than she was willing to say. “Yes. Actually I remember everything since we came to this land, including the battle. There are memories that are a little blurry but other than that I don’t feel like something is missing.” With my words another shadow crossed Rei’s face and I realized that no matter I would say, she would feel pain because of the fact that I was supposed to be her mate but there was no pull, nothing, that would connect us. She was simply a stranger to me right now and I didn’t know how to change it or what she was saying was actually true. I believed Rosie so it should be the truth in the end.  “From what I understand the only missing memories are those of her and probably those strongly related to her.” Rosie continued. “Probably.” I answered her by focusing once again on my memories, searching for something that might signal any mistakes. “From what you already told me, you had a dream which someone made you either use your voice command in the spirit world which would mean that actually everyone in the pack was literally ordered by you to forget or the one behind it was somehow Isaac and he used a memory spell to erase you from their memories.” Rosie turned her attention to Rei and started to talk about something they probably discussed in her shop. “Why is the number of guards lower than normal?” Rei suddenly paid attention to the guards standing at the entrance to our pack. I didn’t want to answer her that I actually sent half of them to search around the pack if there was any proof of her living there and also the cottage I knew was not so far from our pack and she said it belonged to her.  “Can you fix it?” I turned to Rosie ignoring Rei’s question and was waiting for her answer. “Maybe. If it's the work of Isaac, then probably yes. If you forgot because Rei ordered you to, then I am afraid only she can undo her command and make you remember again.” Rosie sounded serious but what caught my attention was her mentioning the voice command. I already knew what it was since Hannah had this ability as well but I always thought she was the only one who had it.  We arrived in front of the packhouse and the driver pulled over so we could literally get out of the car and I led both ladies right to my office. I knew Zack and Andrew were already waiting there for us since I had asked them to. “Welcome back Rosie.” They both welcomed her and she greeted them with a smile.
