Chapter 39 Uttermost Disappointment

Dugu Muyou did not even try to save Dugu Zhong's face. All of a sudden, he was rendered speechless, and his countenance reddened slightly. He tried to pull himself together for the family's dignity.

The fact that he did not send people to save Dugu Muyou owing to his selfishness had become a laughing stock. As an old saying went, even a vicious tiger would not eat its cubs. Dugu Zhong's action was spread all over the town.

Dugu Zhong sneered and spoke, "A loser shall act like a loser. You do not possess any power, but you were determined to go to the Valley of Magical Animals. Since you were looking for death, you can't blame us for your suicidal action! We certainly don't have much manpower to take care of you! You brought trouble on yourself. Because of you, we had to delay the family competition. So tell me, what use do you have other than creating troubles?"

Dugu Muyou wanted to test how much favoritism his father was capable to play. She was going to make scornful remakes, but then she realized another point Dugu Zhong made in his words.

"How did the postponement have anything to do with me?"

"Humph!" Dugu Zhong banged on the tea table, which broke into tiny pieces instantly and spread everywhere.

"Your elder sister Qinglan went to seek your whereabouts instead of attending to the important family competition. I had to postpone the competition. You are a complete loser who caused all those troubles!"

"It's not the fact, is it?"

Dugu Muyou understood what caused the postponement in the blink of an eye. Dugu Zhong did not even care to make a token gesture by sending a few guys to look for her, let alone sending Dugu Qinglan, the most esteemed genius of the family, to search for her. Dugu Qinglan must have gone without Dugu Zhong's permission. Given the family thought highly of Dugu Qinglan, the interim solution to her absence was to postpone the competition.

"The reason why my elder sister has not come back today was that you were not willing to send people to look for me, so she had to do the search personally."

Dugu Muyou glanced at the spiritual sword, and her instinct told her it was no ordinary sword. Compared with the weapons of mercenaries in the Valley of Magical Animals, this sword was a lot better.

He thought if he guessed right, Dugu Muyou must have reached the later stage of blue rank. He wondered what caused it.

Dugu Piaopiao was not in the upper hand at all. After her move was resisted by Dugu Muyou one more time, she finally realized something was off with her, but she did not have time to think through it. Instead, her fighting was aroused by Dugu Muyou, and she was determined to hurt her!

Spiritual power with green light covered the blade of the sword. Suddenly, the spiritual sword was three inches longer than before. There was a malicious expression in Dugu Piaopiao's eyes. She swung the sword in green light and cut down at Dugu Muyou fiercely at full speed.

The next moment, the blue and green lights clashed together and clanged. The blue light smashed the green light, which was defeated and dispersed into pieces, and the blue light hurtled towards Dugu Piaopiao's chest.

Dugu Piaopiao's expression changed suddenly. She put the sword in front of her to protect herself.

"Watch out!"

Dugu Yaoyao warned all at once.

"If I am not her, then who am I?" Dugu Muyou looked at Dugu Piaopiao as if she had been looking at a moron.

"What if I don't? What are you going to do with me? Are you going to throw me back at the Valley of Magical Animals? Or are you going to force me to tell you by other means?"

Dugu Muyou intended to argue with Dugu Zhong for the sake of arguing and did not want to tell him what he wanted to know.

"If Muyou is reluctant to share, just give her a break. She barely escaped her life. Don't push her so hard."

Madam Liu helped smooth things over between them.

Hearing her words, Dugu Zhong temporarily gave up the attempt to force Dugu Muyou to tell him who that person was. He did not care about Madam Liu or Dugu Muyou, but he feared the person who got Dugu Muyou's back. Thus, Dugu Zhong returned to his seat.

Dugu Yaoyao, who looked at Dugu Muyou, had an opaque and dubious expression in her eyes.

"If you want to know, I can tell you." Dugu Muyou said suddenly, "But upon one condition."

Dugu Zhong frowned and was about to get mad. To reach his goal, he tolerated her.

"Muyou, you're my daughter. It is rather aloof to talk about conditions."
