His last words hit like a blade to the chest.
“Luna… was abducted.”
He collapsed on the steps, blood pooling around him. For one frozen second the whole world went silent. Then rage exploded inside me, f*****g hot, blinding and unstoppable.
My claws were still out, dripping with the warrior blood. The surviving warriors shook on their knees, eyes wide with terror.
I turned to the guards who had rushed out from the house.
“Take them,” I ordered, voice low and deadly. “Lock them in the cells. Throw them in the deepest hole we have and they will stay there until I return. If any of them tries to speak or move, break their legs.”
The guards didn’t hesitate. They grabbed the terrified warriors by the arms and dragged them away. The men didn’t fight, they were too broken, too scared.
