CHAPTER 9 - HER HAPPINESS WILL BE MY PRIORITY

“What’s with that guy. Why is he so sweet and kind to me?” She paused and leaned on the door as her face felt hot from blushing. “Silly me! I’m over thinking again! What if he is just like that to all the woman he meets.” Jessy sighed deeply and silently wished that what he is showing to her is not just façade, and somehow she feels a bit hopeful that it was only for her.

Back at Liam’s pad, he can’t stop thinking about Jessy. Her face, her smile, the way she looks at him. Everything seems to be so perfect. “What the heck am I thinking? It's not like it's the 1st time I saw her. But it seems to be so different up close." Liam paused and laughed at himself. "I have been enfatuated with her the very 1st time I saw her back then, she’s like an angel that totally got lost in this scary world.” Liam thought.

For Liam Jessy is like a porcelain glass, so gentle and fragile that he would only wish to protect her at all cost.

He then lay in his bed and said “Then be it, I’ll make sure that from now on her happiness will be my priority.” He then closed his eyes and immediately fell asleep.

Back at Hyatt Residence, Jessy prepared herself to sleep and soon scoot in her bed. Since she hasn’t slept well the past nights and she had a long day earlier, it wasn’t that long that she finally fell asleep.

After a few hours, Jessy was suddenly awakened by the ringing of her phone. She ignored it for a couple of times, but the call persisted, so she finally took her phone and saw it was just a number.

“Hello” she answered drowsily

“Sorry to disturb you but is this Ms. Jessy Scott?” a nervous voice from the other end answered.

“Yes” as she got up from her bed.

“This is Dr. Chivas from the General Hospital. Your number is actually listed as the emergency contact person for Mr. Jacob Simons. He had an accident earlier and currently being attended here.”

“But...” Jessy thought as worry covers her body. “I’ll be there in a while ” Then she hang up and prepared herself.

“Is he really seriously hurt? But why didn't he change his emergency numbers yet. How on earth can I get hold of that Renee?” All those questions suddenly raised in her head.

She booked a cab, and hurriedly went down. When she arrived at the lobby, the cab was already waiting. But before the staff could greet her, she hurriedly went inside the cab.

The entire car ride felt like forever, she was worried with Jacob at the same time afraid that Renee would be there and might think wrongly. She questioned herself if she should just go back, but after some thought, she decided to proceed to the hospital and just check.

Liam was in deep slumber when his phone suddenly rang. It was from the Hyatt Residence. He immediately got up and took the call.

“Sir, our apologies for calling you this late. But Ms. Jessy left hurriedly just now.”

“Where to?” Liam asked with a concerned voice.

“As per the Cab Driver who picked up the Miss, she is headed to the General Hospital”

Without answering back, Liam hang up the call and prepared to leave. Liam specifically instructed the staff of the Hyatt Residence to look over at Jessy, which means they are to report any unusual activities that Jessy will do.

While driving, Liam called his assistant, Jack, to verify if Jessy is already in the General Hospital, and not long after Jack called back and confirmed that Jessy just arrived at the General Hospital.

When Jessy arrived at the hospital, she immediately went to the Emergency Room and asked for Jacob. She was then led down the hall, but the scenario she witnessed outside the room totally tore her apart.

Jacob was sitting in his bed and beside her was Renee who was clinging to him tightly.

Frustrated by the sight she saw, Jessy felt foolish. She immediately turned around to leave but Renee saw her and followed her down the hall.

“Jessy? What are you doing here?” Renee asked angrily

“I was called by the Doctor, so I came. Nothing more. Don’t worry I’m leaving.”

But Renee grabbed her arm and pulled her back.

“Don’t you dare, walk away when I'm not done talking to you and most of all don't even try to flirt with my man behind my back, or else you won’t like what I’ll do to you."

“He is all yours.” Jessy turned her back again and walk hastily, but before she could go far Renee shouted.

"Your number is really not listed in the emergency contacts; I asked the doctor to pretend and call you. I just want to see if you really would come for him and I also want to rub on your face that he is already mine.” Renee said it loud and proud.

Jessy didn’t say a word but tears started to build up in her eyes. She immediately left hurriedly, making big steps as she walked.

She felt so stupid for coming over. She was insulted and she was hurt. It wasn’t her fault at all but she feels everything that happened earlier was because of her ignorance and stupidity.

Renee went back to Jacob’s room smiling sweetly. “Who was it? It seems you’re so happy?” Jacob asked a bit curiious.

Renee then sat beside him and leaned on his shoulders “It was Jessy.”

Jacob, was shocked “Jessy? Did she really came over? So she really still does care” he thought to himself.

Then he said to Renee “Jessy? Why was she here?”

“Well, I asked someone to pretend to be a doctor to call and tell her you are here. I want to see if she will really come. And since she really did, well I told her not to meddle anymore because you are already mine.”

Hearing what Renee said Jacob stood up and saif angrily. “You did what?! Is my being with you not enough for you to be happy?? I told you a dozen times, don’t bother her anymore!”

“So, it’s my fault now Huh Jacob? Are you starting to regret choosing me over that b***h?!” Renee shouted angrily.

Jacob then managed to calm his self down and embraced Renee. “I'm sorry. It’s not what I mean. What I meant was, we did something wrong behind her, so let’s just leave her that way, it’s the least we could do.”

“But I just want to make sure she won’t come running back to you, you are mine already!” Renee cried.

Jacob coaxed her and said “Don’t worry, even if she does that, I won’t get back with her” Jacob said as he kissed her forehead.

Renee did not answer and just continued to hug him. She was very satisfied of his answer and what she did to Jessy a while ago. On the other hand, Jacob was trying to conceal his frustration with Renee, but this time he just let it pass and continued to coax Renee as to not aggreviate the situation.

Jessy was walking very fast; she couldn’t see clearly where she was heading because tears were flowing down from her eyes. As she hurriedly tried to get out of the General Hospital, she bumped in to someone who was standing in the middle of the hallway.

“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to-” As she wiped her tears and looked at the person she just bumped into. When she saw who it was, she was immediately wrapped in his warm embrace.

“Don’t ask.” Liam said softly as he caressed Jessy's hair.

Jessy didn’t say anything and just leaned on Liam. Soon enough, everything started to dawn on her and as her chest tightens from the agony she felt, she sobbed all her hurt out while burying her face on Liam's chest.

Liam on the other hand had eyes that were filled with anger and disappointment. His heart ached for Jessy’s naïve and pure heart. He wanted to avenge her and make those people pay for hurting her.

After some time, Jessy was able to finally calm herself and let go of Liam. Her nose became as red as a tomato and her eyes were swollen from crying.

Liam was enraged with anger seeing how messed up Jessy is. He then took out a handkerchief from his pocket and wiped her tears.

Liam took Jessy’s hand and said “Let’s go.”

Jessy didn’t say a word and just nodded.

Her head was still a mess and she couldn’t even think straight. When they arrive to where Liam’s car was parked, he immediately opened the door and assisted Jessy to get in and buckled her. He then went to the driver side and started the car.

Jessy was motionless and just stared blankly outside. Liam had a hard time focusing on his driving, he gripped the steering wheel tight and occassionally glanced at Jessy. He's heart can't contain the anger he felt for the people who wronged Jessy.
