My Bride from Another World

Chapter 10: Law

In a distant look, I wasn't greeted by a usual sweet view of gardens or forest but instead, a sorrowful family whose voice seemed to contain desolation, sorrow and melancholy.

“Go ask them” he glared at me pushing me outside the carriage. He came out and stood by the carriage.

“Do it quick” He glared at me making me almost ghostly pale the rain started to pour down I looked at the helpless figures drenched in rain before me. I placed my palm on the lady who kneeled in front of the house.

"Mi- Miss ", she stuttered while addressing me, was followed by her cries causing me to choke back a sob that was desperately trying to escape my throat.

I couldn't take it, hearing her voice was depressing in a way but seeing it in front of my eyes "Madame, wh-.... why are you crying?" I tried to maintain my voice the best I could and asked her although I knew the source of her sadness but I didn't have a choice.

I looked behind at Kronos who had a victorious emotion dancing in his green emerald eyes. Ms. Madison let out a sob followed by uncontrollable cries.

"It's all o-over Miss, every- everything is gone. My h-h... Miss, my house is gone. They took it away, the- the land. It will be de -demolished after this week. The one that I was able to call mine, my possession, it's all gone now. I have nothing..." I clamped my palm on my mouth to stop myself from crying. I couldn't hear it anymore, tears glide on my cheeks and began to make my eyes became watery. Thanks to the rain they wouldn't see me cry.

Their son Mark's voice; wasn't any better, the dejection and grief were clearly visible in his eyes looking at his mother's dejected figure hugging her. “Apparent the lender has been very merciless. It's all gone our dreams. I don't want to sound rude but can you please go, she can't talk with you right now." With that being said, he took her away with a defeated sigh. I fell down on the ground, my face drenched in tears.

Oh God, Guard and his family...

Her uncontrollable cries kept repeating in my head. I clutched my head tightly trying to stop the head aching. Everything started coming back, rage consumed my system and I stood up before the man who was the inception of everything.

I lunged at him angrily clutching his throat. He didn't see that coming before he sat on the seat, therefore, wasn't prepared causing him to lose his balance and we both fell down with me on top of him. I sat on him with my legs on either side of his waist and gripped the collar of his shirt. 

"You bastard! How dare you!" I yelled at him while shaking him furiously. He said nothing which enraged me more.

I punched his chest furiously, I kept giving him punch after punch until I was breathless and exhausted. If only his chest wasn't so hard, I would have kept going but my fists were hurting from the impact and all the blisters.

"Why did you do that, why?!! They are suffering because of y- " I didn't get to finish the sentence as I was shoved against the closed carriage door. My breathing stopped as he leaned his face closer to mine, putting his hand on both sides of my head, he caged me across the door

"Hold on that tongue of yours young lady. They are suffering because of YOU. You are the cause of their destruction; the person who was protecting you is in pain only because of you. Everything happened because of you and only you. I warned you not to mess with me but you defied me anyway and that is the consequence of your undoing’s. Keep in mind Catina Ellison that you- are- the- culprit.

YOU!!”

He dragged me again by the back door to his study. I couldn’t think anything hearing him I felt heavy with every step I took while getting dragged it felt like miles.

 He released me roughly “Bring the guard that guarded her room. “ I looked up in fear at Kronos.

“Your Highness,” the guard bends in front of him with his head down.

“Do you know what wrong you have done”.

“Yes, Your Highness”.

“Pay the price of it I will be merciful to you this one time,” Kronos announced.

The guard took out his sword presented it to Kronos. To divert him from making the guard resign I screamed while pointing at him.

“I’ll tell the ‘Law authorities’ all about this they won’t leave you!

“Are you talking to me about the ‘LAW’?” he gave a mocking smile. Behind his mocking laughter, I felt a lurk; growing sense of uneasiness. My heart started to beat faster hearing him.

“I’m the living law what I say is the law. Don’t you dare disobey me.”  He said in a lower octave.

Before I realized blood gushed from the guard's hands. My eyes widened looking that Kronos had done.

He slashed the guard's hand in a swift strike his hand was apart from his body and fell on the ground bleeding.

In pain, the guard screamed and fell on the floor with a thud.

While Kronos just looked at the poor man bleeding without ant remorse. The blood was dripping from Kronos' face and on his shoulder, the blood got splattered and was dripping down his cheek.

Kronos wiped his sword on the guard's cloak while the guard muffling in pain.

My head felt numb seeing blood flow from the guard's shoulders. I don’t belong here that was my only thought.

My head could not process anything later what he said or how I reacted all I knew was that my one attempt to run caused someone’s destruction then, what would happen if I tried something else.

Seeing him so ruthless, I could not cry nor even feel a thing and stared at the blood in front of me.

I didn’t respond nor looked at him.

I tried my best to get hold of myself.

He went outside the room leaving me with thousands of thoughts running in my mind. One moment I was standing there motionless and at once, I was landed on the ground.

It was as if the realization has taken off every wisp of air from my lungs leaving me breathless. I laid on the floor struggling for air, I tried to inhale and exhale. Anything, but noth- ing worked. I felt like I was dying, tears escaped out of my eyes.

'That's it, I'm go- ing to die now.' Still, I clutched my throat desperately trying to breathe. 

'What the hell is wrong with me?!' I started to feel angry at myself for unknown reasons.

It wasn't until I heard someone shout, suddenly I was being carried off and soon I felt myself being laid on a soft, comfy mattress making me feel so like I'm on clouds. I instantly relaxed and glanced at him.
