Chapter 06

The matter about big cities was that it has always been hectic, polluted, populated and noisy. A toxic environment for such person like Azul who was raised together with the nature. Used at inhaling fresh airs, listening into the susurros of nature, while encountering only few people daily. She has been in big cities including the city she currently was staying though and has even lived there for months, she frequently was gotten in the city for some reason. Has gone in crowded places— malls, has rode all in the busy streets— inside a private car. She was never entirely exposed in the complex and disarrayed world of the overly civilized place. She grew up pampered not only because her family was very conservative and overly caring, well they are, but only because they have to. Azul, she has always been needing attention that when you leave her out of watch, her life would be in danger. Thorough attention and care was essential for her. And that being alone in the City bears great hardships to her living. The first few weeks are entirely fine, but when her classes began getting focused, that's when the dilemma embarked being felt by her. She was tasked to do numerous things. Research projects, that coerces her to conduct social interaction. Buying her own groceries, walking in the busy streets, doing school tasks that involves, sometimes, excessive physical activity. Everything has been quite new to her, a bit too much— but she do not have the guts to complain or to give up as her pride prevails. I choose it, I deserve it. She told herself million times. Yet fortunately there was Piper... "Aren't this processed foods is just so unhealthy for you?" Piper questioned upon helping her organizing their pantry. "It's unhealthy for everyone, Pipes" she seems to be correcting her. "Y-yeah— I'm sorry— but you can't just consume all of this" "Well it's not like you aren't also be eating them" "Wait— so this grocery is for the both of us?" "Of course!" Things just then made sense to Piper, on why did Azul bought ramens or noddles and black coffee when it's not good for her health, even those that has almonds and other nuts in the ingredients when Azul is allergic to it. "Oh come on Azul" she groaned "I've told you to stop including me into the budget" "Why?!" She turned her attention to Piper "I'm just doing this to compensate!" "About what? About me cooking our meals?" "Yeah!" "Don't tell me you also brought meats and veggies?!" "They're in the fridge already!" "What!" "You react like you do not want this— like you did not appreciate this." "It's not like that Azul!" "But you know if you really would keep on declining with me that's isn't much of a problem, I mean I'd better be eating this all otherwise they'd be out of date." "This kind of foods are bad for your health!" "They are still edible!" "You are allergic to nuts, Azul!" "They don't really make a sort of too awful effects in me" "Oh come on!" "You know what just stop complaining and let me do such thing like this. Not really bragging but my allowance is just too much." "It's not like I wasn't given allowance either" Azul halted and intently stared at Pipers very eyes "You really like to pursue this argument?" Piper was halted by Azul's sternness that all she managed to do as a response is to shake her head. Azul proceeded at arraying those she bought, concealing her smirk. Defeated, Piper was left with no other choice but to sigh out of—exasperation? well she couldn't really tell. She was glad to have a courteous and thoughtful roommate like Azul, but she isn't cool with her being too much favorable and giving. As it seems she was being carried out by the person she was tasked to take care of. Her being roommate with Azul, her being well aware about her illness, and her being overly concerned and caring to her— everything is sorted up. Whatever her reason, well it's yet to be revealed. "How is she?" Asked the man behind the line. The orangey street light from outside dispersed all over the apertures or the blinds in the windows next to Piper's bed, her eyes then averted to the girl laying in the bed next to her, sleeping sound. "Piperian" the man called after hearing no response. Piper sighed "She has been doing fine since she came. She was taking her medicines and taking enough rest as much as she can. I'm also helping her out in some activities" she turned to look outside the streets of the Dormitory area. "So far she didn't had any attacks" "Good. That's just then also mean your doing great." "In my task? Yes of course" she released a sarcastic chuckle. "I know that sound" the man said knowingly, perceiving the sarcastic remark. "What's the matter Piper?" "Nothing big, really" she glanced at Azul ones again "But it just bothers me that I— we, rather, have to keep it a secret to her. I m-mean nothing seems a problem about us looking after her as after all we have the lead of her—" "We have talked about this, Piper!" "Yeah but... you know she's a nice person." "Oh so it is— your conscience, again?" "Of course. I couldn't afford keeping secret to such person like her. But it isn't entirely that, I am not fine acting like a spy whose monitoring over all her actions and knowing all her whereabouts... like finding out those things that she has no plans on telling me and telling it to you too. You know, that just feels like so illegal." "It isn't Piperian. Besides you are doing that for her own good." "Why couldn't I just reveal to her that—" "You think she would going to be comfortable with you if ever she knows you are tasked to watch after her? She pursued on living alone in the city, going to college and living like a normal person in her remission. She was anticipating to live freely. She would not like knowing you are there to take care of her as if she's still ill, it would just make her feel that she isn't yet free to her sickness and that would result a problem. That will make it difficult for you to watch after her." "But it's just a remission. Any time she could have a relapse and that would happen any sooner mostly that she has been doing and consuming matters that she hasn't yet consumed back then" "I thought she's doing fine?" "Well yes! But she was kind of reckless, you know. And I'm diffident to always interrupt her as that would just makes it look like I'm depriving her of those." "You told me that she knows that you knew about her health. She would understand if you do so." "And yet she would not react well if I'd act pretty protective to her." "Well you better just let her live with it as long as it isn't really that too much. If she notices you are being overly concerned she would feel as if she's still bound and that would make it difficult for you to do your task"
