"Guess fate's indeed crossing our paths" Klay walked nearer and went to sat on the other side of the couch. "Who brought you here, anyway? But wait— don't get that wrong, I'm just pretty certain that my Mom don't know you"
"Oh, I was brought here by my roommate. The owner of the bookshop she's working was invited in the party"
"Are you pertaining to Consuelo Montreal?"
"You know her?"
"Of course! Their family was one of our closest friends. As a matter of fact I'm the one who gave her the invitation" gleefully Klay started, he's just kind of amused how fate has been playing on the both of them. "The very first time we met..." he smiled genuinely "Earlier that encounter I came from her shop to give her the invitation"
"Oh" is what Azul could only manage to respond, also amused by the incidents. She then shut her eyes and shook her head in slow manner, plastering a smile on her face "Woah—t-that somehow amused me. Seems fate has been tricking us into something"
"Yeah, same thoughts" Klay also couldn't stop smiling, for an ineffable reason. He was even playing with his jaw trying to cover his smile off by his palms. Biting his lips over and over again, trying to suppress his escaping smiles. Azul whose in the same page thought that she seems being tickled.
Moments later they managed to calm themselves down "So y-your Mom— was the one who's celebrating this party?" She asked, recalling what Klay said earlier.
"Yeah, it was her 59th birthday"
"Oh, c-can you tell her my regards. I am not seeing her around and even if I would or perhaps I might have did; I still won't recognize her"
"Sure. I would like to introduce you to her but I am also oblivious where she currently was. She should be entertaining the other guests inside"
"And why weren't you helping her?" Azul furrowed her brows, pretentiously altered into stern feature.
Klay chuckled, making Azul laugh along putting out her pretense "Well I'm kind of already drunk. Everyone I cater hands me liquor and I am not able to refuse to them"
"Well it should have been quite difficult to do so, as the son of the celebrant"
"Yeah—Yeah" He was nodding his head "How about you?"
"W-what about me?"
"Have you eaten or did you drink? Do you want anything?"
"No, I'm fine"
"That's not what I'm asking. Do you want anything? I guess you just arrived. Do you want to eat anything? Didn't Consuelo even just serve you—"
"No.No. She don't have to and also please don't bother. She served us something earlier and I don't really feel like eating, I took a meal earlier before coming here— my roommate told me about this last minute"
"Is that so?" Azul nodded "Can I know who roommate was? I might also knew her"
"Piper Roberts"
"Oh, I d-don't" he shook his head and again laughs. "Where are they anyway? Why did they leave you alone in here?"
"Consuelo went inside to get something, while Piper's in the washroom"
"I-in that case— can I tour you around for some moment?"
"I would like to, but they might come back in here sooner—"
"We won't take long" he cuts her off. Indeed, wanting to pursue it. Azul just then smiled, and slowly— she nodded her head.
They both left the gazebo and trailed over a pathway beside the house. Their way through their destination was dark, as their path was only illuminated by the lights from the venue and in the yard. There were bulbs and lamps in the side of the pathway, yet none of them wants to caught any attention of anyone in the place, discarding the thought of turning them on.
Laughing and chuckling as almost tripping over, silent murmurs and exchanged summons. Inside them, a perfervid ecstasy grew. The adrenaline runs on their blood over the thought that they seems either intruding or escaping.
"Why do we even have to do that?" Asked Azul as they reached a staircase in where lights are already illuminating their surrounding.
"A-actually we don't have to" Klay chuckled. Noticing their path, Azul took a halt and Klay did the same. "Why?"
"I forgot to ask where are we heading"
"Just somewhere" he replied.
Azul pouted and crossed her arms then imposed it against her chest and said "What if you're planning to do something to me?"
Klay who is not surprised at all only did manage to exhale "Well what am I even expecting" he muttered "But you know, I won't do anything bad to you. Trust me."
"I don't trust anyone"
"Then at least just believe me, just this ones"
"Isn't it just the same?"
"What do you mean?"
"Trusting and believing"
"It isn't" he replied, and she shrugged then continued on walking.
Azul, she was all comfortable with the man behind him. Entirely contrary and different from how people, usually guys, used to make her feel; Klay gives him different feeling. The unusual comfort, the complacent and trust that he would not do anything to her. Everything is just foreign, yet instead of minding it up she just chose to discard the thought of wondering about it. Also, she is not dumb enough to not think about the possible reason neither that she was denial to not even consider them.
She knows and she admits, that Klay is something or has something. Magical? Special? She could not tell, one thing she is certain about was that Klay makes her feel complacent.
They arrived in the roof deck of the house, in where the breathe taking view of the city lights in the landscape down the hill was perfectly seeable. The place was right upon the highlands of the city, and that explains the view as well the abundant nature and cold fresh winds. The downtown roads and highways were glinted into different neon colors from the vehicles that was passing by. The towering establishments, the adjacent light posts— everything was miniatured.
"What a place" Azul mumbled as she shut her eyes and inhaled into the fresh air. She went nearer into the glass railings that stood until her chest, she then leaned over and smiled upon relishing the atmosphere much more.
He stared at her and as well smiled before turning his gaze in the void "This has been my comfort place since I was a child" he said.
"You live here?" She altered her gaze rightward only to found Klay's side profile that made her envious, apparently that pointed nose. Yet she discarded her thoughts and added "In this mansion?"
"I used to" Klay replied "Well, I've been living in an apartment since Senior High School"
"Speaking of school. What were you in college?" She asked.
"I've told you about that already. In our first encounter"
"Really? I should have forgotten"
"Well... I am in Law School already, 2nd year"
"Law? Woah, you must indeed be a excellent man" she blurted "Certainly, a privileged one"
"Well, just as what they always says"
"Aren't you?"
He met her gaze and bit his lower lip and said "I'm grateful of what I have and I was given to. Not meaning to brag, but they are a lot that I just couldn't help but to be thankful" he then turned to look back at the void "Yet, there's always the dilemma in being privileged on living with opulence. As for you didn't just get what you want yet as well those that you haven't and would not like asking for, those that you neither want having for."
Azul did not say furthermore word and just as well gazed into the void. Silence prevailed and breeze strayed in, enveloping the both of them. Serenity, sedating the mind yet weighing the heart. Melancholy, that exists yet remained submerging in distinctness of the mind, well, rather blankness.
Yet sooner a mellow old song was sang, audibly reaching on their ears. And ones again, the nighttime breeze flew affecting the surrounding. Rustling the leaves, straying every light matter that could be strayed including of course their hair and her dress. Everything seems dancing together in the song.
At the back of her mind, she just then questioned: how did I even comes into this scene with a guy I just recently knew?
The question that she shrugged off. She feels like it doesn't need to be answered either. Rhetorical, the question might have been implying how she hasn't been much careful, she has thought.
Klay on the other hand, irrelevantly wonders if Azul could sing. It's just his ears seems to have liked the sound of her chilling voice or so if she could and was willing to dance with him—the very moment.
