Chapter 02

The downpour did not stop and even got worse as they pulled out the parking. Klay is carefully maneuvering the wheel while the young lady is silently seated in the back seat, eyes transfixed on him which made him all uncomfortable and awkward. Her gazes are piercing but nonchalant. Her face isn't showing any recognizable emotions or expression, it's just resting. "W-why do you keep looking at me?" He finally had the courage to ask the young lady. ""Nothing." she replied straightly and turned her head to look outside the window, she then ask; "Can I know your name?" "Oh, of course. I forgot to introduce myself," he chuckled, "I am Klay Nepomuceno, I am currently in Law School, 2nd year. How about you?" "I am Azul and I am taking Psychology." "Freshmen?" "Sophomore." "Why did you decided to transfer?" "I have been planning of studying here before I could even get in college but something happened— so I had to study in a college in our town, just this time I got to continue my plans." "So how old are you?" "Twenty-one." She replied looking back at him. "You look a bit younger than that age." "And you look quite older." "Is that so?" "Yes Or you're just looking mature." "I'm still 25." "I see" she nodded slowly. Then the silence again prevailed inside the vehicle. The water that's traveling down the windows, the wiper that's wiping the windshield, the barely audible sound of the rain inside the car, the cold ac and the silent turbulence of the car— it was what filled Azul's mind. Klay on the other hand couldn't take Azul out his mind. He was wondering if she's comfortable or not, if she's okay, if what's going on her mind, if what else could he offer to her. He was conscious and distraught, for some reason that he himself barely perceives. "Why were you not stopping?" Azul asked when Klay entered the gates in the university. "I'll drop you in your dorm building." "H-how did you know?!" Azul exclaimed after realizing that he never told him regarding that matter. "I deduced it." Klay smirked and stared at her from the rear view which Azul also did. "You said you're a sophomore, and that you was to study in this university. You're not yet studying here. It's late in the afternoon and that classes is on going and you're not attending any, but you're going in the campus— so you could have been heading in the dormitory. Aren't you?" "Oh well." Azul could only say. She has thought about it, she literally is carrying a luggage earlier. Everyone would indeed deduce that she would be heading in the dormitory. "The semester was about to end. Everyone in your department was reviewing for the upcoming monthly exams so they don't have any curricular today. I assume you'd start in second semester already." Azul knitted her brows and squinted for a brief moment before she heave a sigh and said "Okay. You're right." she rolled her eyes away. She was to attend only the second semester, she took an advance exam back in her previous school to manage documents about her transfer immediately. "You really are sharp uh." she smirked. "Is that supposed to be sarcasm?" "No." "Pardon. I just thought because of that smirk." "You gave me the same earlier." Klay shook his head slowly and smiled "Yeah. Anyway we're here." He parked the car in the driveway right in front of the dormitory building. Azul unbuckled the belt and opened the door then hopped out. She then went to knock over the window of the passenger seat, Klay rolled it down. "Can you please carry my luggage?" She asked him. Then Klay remembered, the heavy luggage that girl was carrying earlier. He knows it's heavy as he's the one who carried it until they got in the parking lot and even put it in the compartment. He stared at her for a brief moment before altering his gaze in the guardhouse that dwells right in the entrance of the building and as he found the guard unfamiliar he went back to look at her and respond "S-sure." He smiled and hopped out his car afterwards. Azul took the the umbrella and opened it before encountering Klay at the back of the car and covered him with the umbrella. As Klay took her luggage they strode in the porch and the guard halted them. "He's helping me with my luggage. Is it okay for him to enter." Azul told the lady guard. "Is that so?" The guard asked, indifferently but seemingly unconvinced that she even looked at Klay from head to toe. Azul realized why the guard did that but Klay's oblivious and it made her laugh silently. "Yes, don't worry I know." Azul reassuringly replied while still keeping that smile on her face. "Is he something l-like your boyfriend?" The guard inquired and none of the two answered. "I'll just remind you that you are not suppose to take him inside again. Just this time, just this ones." Azul and Klay awkwardly nodded and the guard beckoned them to enter already which they did. "She is new." Klay snapped as the elevator door slid closed and the elevator began pulling up. Azul glanced at him and furrowed. "And she'll be temporary." "Deductions again?" Azul snorted and rolled her eyes away. "A bit of it. I actually knew the original guard in here, and she had been here for a decade already. And I haven't heard of her quitting, I even saw her just earlier this day." "How do you know the guard here? You frequently picking up girls in dorm?" Azul retorted and even grinned. "No I don't " Calmly, Klay denied. Azul was again impressed— on how he doesn't seem to sound defensive yet as well don't sound lying. He denied it plainly but convincingly. She don't know if it's because on how he said it, or because of his decent look making it hard to speculate that he's into womanizing. Yet is he?; she thought at the back of her mind. But she ended up shrugging it over. The elevator door slid open as they arrived in the 5th floor, and that they then walked in the hallway through the door of Azul's dorm. She expected her roommate would be around and therefore thought of just letting Klay go but she found the door locked and ended up using the key. As she shoved the door open she found a neat and organized room making her sigh out of relief knowing that her roommate might be not that disorganized and chaotic. She then entered, and turned to Klay then smiled at him. "My roommate is not here." She began "You can change your shirt, I have an oversize plain black shirt in my luggage and it'll sure suit your slacks." "H-Huh?" Klay ran out of words after hearing that. Astonished by her sudden offer. "Dude you're soaked since earlier and that you haven't even dried much up. Are you even aware that you're wearing a white blouse and how you—" she looked at Klay's torso for a brief moment and back at his face "—look like right now" Klay was coerced to also look down on his body only to learn how his drenched shirt clunged on his very body emphasizing his lines and even barely revealing his very skin and molding that part of his breast. He lifted his face up and lowered his gazes for a bit to encounter Azul's gaze. "You know I have thought that the Guard down there let you pass because of that. Don't worry, sure there's a bathroom here." And in the end, Klay was left with no choice, hence he conceded. He went in and through the bathroom then removed his shirt right away. Azul on the other hand opened her luggage, and after a brief moment she found the shirt and went to knock over the bathroom door. "I found it." She said along knocking. The bathroom door's a sliding, it has this wooden frame with a intensely frosted glass panel with some flower prints. She heard crackles from behind the door thus she knocked again and spoke "Is there anything wrong?" "I couldn't slide the door open." Klay replied, almost yelling. "W-what?" "I can't slide the door open." He repeated as he again tried to shove the door sideward but it is not really moving. "The lock?" Azul asked. "It's unlocked, there's just something I guess on the sliding of the door. It's hard to push it sideward." Azul began to get anxious and yey just remained mutely unmoving for some while. Klay continued on putting much effort on trying to open the door, if he happens to not get out there any sooner he will not be able to attend his errand later. And as Azul noticed how the sliding door moved and changed position after being shove sideward forcefully she realized that if they'll put together their full strength they might open the door. "The door moves when you push it, I better just help you." He told Klay and from the other side of the door and she also pushed sideward. And after moments the door slid not even almost half open, yet enough to have them peek at each other. "A-are you okay?" Klay who is leaning its back against the bathroom wall asked Azul, panting— and half naked. Azul nodded it's head and beckoned to Klay to try again, and then they proceeded. "Hold on— push the door forth." Klay told her as he noticed how it slips easily when Azul has pushed it frontward. And Azul obeyed on what Klay said, then Klay again tried to shove the door sideward— and that's when things went so swift and the sliding door slipped open abruptly that Azul did not notice it and failed to maintain her balance and had herself shove into Klay which also is not attentive enough to get ready to support her weight; having them end up on falling over the floor. Klay's masculine arm was gently wrapped around Azul's slender body who fell above him. And as soon as they noticed their awkward position, Azul immediately get herself together and get off Klay's touch, while Klay remained lying over the tiled floor; enduring back pain due to the impact when he hit the tiles. Azul did notice his struggle and disregards what just happened and she extended her arms to reach his hands which Klay reached and they both put force to pull his body up. "I a-am so s-sorry." She apologized, stuttering. "T-that's f-fine." Klay also stuttered. They both stared at each other for a brief moment not until when Azul decided to cut it off and walked outside the bathroom and get the shirt and throw it to Klay, which he struggled to catch but he fortunately did. "Not closing the door anymore." Klay said yet with a questioning inflection. "No closing doors anymore." Azul repeated with a smirk having Klay smile, and they both shook their head before Klay turned his back and began putting on the shirt and Azul went on her luggage to manage her stuffs.
