Aaron’s POV
I stared at the scrambled eggs in the pan, watching them congeal into something barely edible.
This was the third batch I’d ruined this morning.
“You’re burning breakfast again,” Ashran observed from the doorway.
I turned off the stove, dumping the ruined eggs into the trash. “I know.”
“That’s the third time.”
“I know.”
Ashran moved into the kitchen, leaning against the counter with his arms crossed. His hair was still damp from his shower, and he looked far too alert for someone who’d only gotten a few hours of sleep. “What’s going on with you?”
“Nothing.”
“Liar.” He studied me with that intense focus that missed nothing. “You’ve been distracted all morning. And barely slept last night. And now you’re destroying perfectly good eggs. Talk.”
