Chapter 2

The day goes on in a consistent swirl. I try not make eye contact with anyone in my class, but it was hard when so many people were consistently spreading lies about me.  "Have you seen Emily's outfit today. It looks like she made it herself." Tyffiny, the one girl who made it her life's goal to make my days here a total hell, sits with a bunch of her popular friends, still talking about me. Brian, her boyfriend joins in.  "You know what I've heard. One of the teens actually beat her up for being so ugly. That's where she got the bruises from." He chuckles as the others laugh in union. I roll my eyes, trying to do this technique of keeping my emotions in balance, but the anger's just coming out so fast.  "You know what I've heard?" I mimic, grabbing the attention of the whole group. "That Tyffiny's been sleeping with the whole football team. Sorry Brian."  They all look at me with a fury so intense that I thought they were actually planning my death.  "You bitc-"  "Tyffiny, I will implore you stay quiet back there!" Mr. Goldenberg, our teacher seethes. She clasps her mouth shut, slowly turning away as she stays glowering at me. I've gotten used to their idiocy over the years, almost was able to hide the pain with anger. I haven't got any friends to defend me because the whole school thinks I'm a nutjob or reject, and at least some people want to keep their dignity. I've found myself thinking this is just how life is for me.  I stay quiet the entire class but after the bell rings, I know it's a matter of survival. I've gotten Tyffiny and her posse upset, so I'm going to have to skip lunch at thread for the bathroom, where I may be safe if I hid.  As I open the door, I feel hard hands push me in and I land on the ground hands first.  "You thought you could get away that easily, you i***t?"  "Oh go screw someone else and leave me al-" All the air in my lungs get pushed out of me as she swings her leg into my stomach, the pain almost blinding. I really need to learn to keep my mouth shut.  Tyffiny stands above me with two girls at her side. I try to grab for the counter but she kicks me one more time on my hip, making me flop back down to the floor in agonizing  pain.  She smirks down at me as I writhe, taking a moment and fishing out her phone. She angles it at me and takes a picture. "Send." She grins. Welp, that's great. Her face then twists into a scowl. "Try what you did again and I'll do much worse to you."  I snort as she leaves the bathroom with her two girls. I pick myself back up slowly, grimacing as I hold onto my side. I've already experienced much worse but I'll give her the benefit of doubt.  I brush over my clothes to straighten it once more, my hip and stomach still nagging. If I come out now, I can expect to be the center of attention of the school, what with the tweet she must of sent out of me looking like a i***t. I instead walk into the biggest stall and close the door, sliding along the wall until I'm sitting. I'll just stay here for the rest of the day, no biggie. No biggie... at all.  I don't realize it till a little later that tears are falling down my face. I wipe away at them angrily. This is my life, I should just get used it. ---------------- I walk home, successfully making it to the end of the day. I take the abandoned route behind the school so no one can see me. Dad shouldn't be home until 7:20 so I still have 3 hours to write on my story.  As I jiggle the keys in its lock, I notice the amount of boxes on my old neighbor's lawn has multiplied. Someone really is moving in. I wonder if they might be as nice as Ms. Foecher was, or if they will just be the same as everyone else in this town. I shake my head and open up the door, walking inside. My mom still isn't home from her job so I throw my bag on our couch and go straight to the computer, needing to wash out all this unnecessary emotions. Okay, where did I left off... "Dillan, you can't go, you can't leave me with these monsters!" Patty yells. Dillan frowns as the light from the moon hits his pale face, showing his concern.  "I have to Patty. You'll be safe with them. No one will hurt you... I love you too much to see you get hurt." He pulls her in, inhaling her soft scent for what might be the last time before leaving a kiss on her forehead. She holds on to him, hoping that if she did he would never leave, but she knows this might just be the ending. The ending she has never wanted so much in her life. He kisses her one last time before turning his back to her and walking through the darkness of thedfasdagf... I jerk in my seat as the knob to our apartment starts to jiggle. Must be Mom. I sigh hoarsely as I go back to writing... but my blood runs icy cold when I hear a deep voice emit from the entrance.  "How many times have I told you stop using that damn computer." I slowly turn around as I lock eyes with my father, a tall man with dark brown hair and the smell of booze wafting around his mouth. I didn't know he would be home so early. Well I thought today couldn't get any worse but apparently it can.
