Father

Everett's POV I had woken up quite early today. I slept really good. The catheter that was fixed into my urethra was hurting me. I started making sounds and unpleasant noises so that the sound transmitter in my room would send a signal to Becky. Hailey had fixed it in my room so that in case of an emergency, I would call out to Becky. Seconds later, Becky appeared with a look of worry on her face. After a minute or so she was able to receive my signal and helped me with the catheter. Breakfast was served about 30 minutes after Becky left my room. She came back with a glass of fresh juice and an omelette. She fed me well and oh my God, did it taste good. I always liked it when our friends slept over. Today was Friday and I couldn't wait for Jessie and Scott to arrive. Jessie was a student at the Detroit institute of music education and Scott was a law student at the Mercy School of law. Both had no classes for the weekend. We heard the bell ring and after Becky had gone downstairs she came back up with Scott who helped bring me downstairs. I didn't really feel like a burden to them anymore because I knew they didn't mind doing these things. On reaching downstairs, I was gently let into my wheelchair and Jess greeted me with a hug. She looked so beautiful. Her hair was let down and she wore a beautiful blouse which I believed was her favourite. I was really happy for her and Scott. They really made a cute couple. We kinda had fun. They engaged me with useless conversations as usual, and gossip. I really used to hate gossip, but I guess being stuck in a wheelchair for that long could change certain things. I was scheduled for an appointment with my doctor very soon because I wasn't showing signs of progress, but I was quite happy since Becky and my friends were there with me. And they were really supportive. It was in the afternoon, when my nurse was talking about meeting Jessie's brother that Becky walked into the lounge with a tray of freshly baked cookies. I loved cookies so much. When she asked who wanted some, I immediately shouted "me". Wait did I just speak. I mean I intended to but it never comes out. My thoughts always stayed in my head. How did it come out this time. I tried to say something else but my lips wouldn't move. I would have thought I was mistaken about me being able to speak if not for the reactions of the people around me. Oh my God, so I really spoke. They were so happy for me. Later in the evening, we were still in the lounge when we heard a knock on the door. Hailey decided to get it but it seemed there was a problem so she called Becky to the door. I don't know who was at the door, but Becky was saying something to the person and it seemed she didn't want whoever it was to get in. A few minutes after, a tall dark handsome man who looked like he was in his early forties, entered the room. He had a thin feminine looking face just like mine. After he walked in, Becky requested that everyone left the living room, except for me. I didn't know what was going on but I couldn't ask anyways. The man walked near me and spoke, " Hi Everett, im.. " "A friend", Becky cut him. How she interrupted what the man wanted to say was quite suspicious. There was something about him , I didn't know what it was though. "Why are you doing this?", he asked. "Because I don't want you to hurt him again", Becky answered. "Wait, hurt who? Me?" I asked myself. "I don't even know this man", I thought Then he began to speak. After saying all that he had to, I realized who he was. I never thought I'd get to meet my.......father again. Even if I would, I would never have imagined it under such circumstances, I've hated him all my life, thinking he left my mom and I. Turns out he wasn't the monster I thought he was. He knelt down beside me and hugged me. Father, I said in my head.
