Mates!

3016 Words
Marta had made her way to the closet portal back to her world it was high up in the mountains in a small obscure cave that had never been discovered by the Humans.  She entered the cave and was back to her younger looking sleek self.  She paused just before she entered it and a vision flashed in her eyes, he was waiting for her but it was not whom she suspected would be waiting for her.  Using the last of her magic she changed herself into a seagull and headed to a different portal that was a the bottom the great lake 200 miles away.  One of the hardest ones to use, she hoped she had enough magic to get her home.  Marta was right, he was waiting for her.  She thought it would be The king of the Vampires, Delilah's father but it was his brother Thomas.  Time was different between the realms and in the week Marta has spent in the Human realm Thomas had over thrown the king by killing him, his wife, their young son and all those in the royal guards who would not take the oath and recognize him as the rightful King of the Realm.  "Where is she?" He looked at his Warlock with his beady black eyes waiting for an answer. His face was slender with high cheek bones, if his evil did not contort his face with ugliness he would be very handsome and he was at one point in his life. Now, as he starred at his Warlock waiting for answer his skin was a whitish tone with deep circles under his eyes enhanced by his black hair.  "She went to another portal.  She must've foretold us being here." The Warlock held his gaze. "Can you find the girl? Where is that baby?" Thomas asked with his hands in fists at his side his long black suit was perfectly tailored to him.  "We cannot see into the Human realm.  There is no magic there for us to use.  If we go looking for her it could create a bridge into our realm and our world would be exposed to them and our magic would denigrate.  You know this cannot happen."  the Warlock waited and held his gaze and waited for Thomas to process what he was just told.  The baby had escaped and we could not get her back.  This will certainly haunt Thomas, possibly even drive him crazy. Thomas stood there staring at the ground knowing he had been caught, knowing that the baby and possibly Delilah had gotten away.  Frustration clenched his heart and he closed his eyes unsure what to do next. "Let us pack up and head back to the castle.  I want you to search for a spell that we can cross over into the Human realm as often as we want without leaving a trace.  That is what you life's goal will be from here on out."  He looked up from the ground with his beady black eyes to the warlock standing in front of him.  "We must find her and destroy her."  Thomas turned and spread his giant black wings and jumped off the cliff and soared into the sky back toward HIS castle.  Two months prior to the escape "Father, I love him!  I will not abandon him and I will not reject our child." A fierce fire lit in her blue eyes as Delilah defended her love and her child.  She stood as tall as her 5 foot frame would and touched her belly and she felt the child kick back at her and she felt emboldened by it.  "Father, this is a different time we are not to stuck to our ways for eternity.  He is my mate and my one true love.  I WILL forsake all others for our love and that includes you." She stormed out of the room.   She got to her room and began to cry.  She had finally come clean, Adden had encouraged her.  He had said that they could never be free if they didn't come clean to their parents.  She was the daughter of the Vampire King and he was the son of the Fairy King.  Their sides had been at war longer than any history book could remember.  Her tears began to fade as thoughts of him crept into her mind.   She had been out one night just looking at the moon and the stars sitting in a tree.  She had told her father she was going hunting, which she often did just to get out of castle and away from all the stale conversations.  Then she felt it, the stir in her heart, the warmth that flooded her body and it knocked the wind out of her.  "My mate is near. That must be it." She stood on the branch and looked around.  It was the middle of the night, who could be out at this time. Surely he must feel her as well. She jumped to the forest floor and looked around. "Hello mate" He said with a deep voice that seemed to have a bit of a curious tone.  She took in a deep breath and was almost drunk with desire and turned to face him. She was shocked to see him in all his fairy glory standing in front of her.  She quickly stepped backward and tripped over a branch.  With his lightning speed he caught her.  His arms around her lit her body on fire and the bond was undeniable.  She looked into his eyes and they were lavender, she had never been so close to a real fairy. His white hair flowed down his back and over his shoulders.  Very opposite of her black hair and pale skin. She felt like they stayed like for an eternity and she admitted that she did not want to break the hold but she had compose herself.  She regained her footing and stepped away from him looking down trying to control her emotions.   Once she felt like she was able to look back up at him she did.  He was beautiful to her with his long white hair, peach skin tone that had a bit of a shimmer, lavender eyes, he was tall with a very handsome face with a sharp jawline and high cheek bones.  His smile made her dizzy as he stood there looking back at her. Adden's POV I had picked up her sent sometime ago.  I followed her at a good distance, I was stunned that she was a vampire and the Vampire Princess Delilah at that.  He needed some time to take it in.  She was beautiful, her long black hair, cute turned up nose and now I see she has dimples too!  She was perfect and he knew right then and there that he would die for her and so he showed himself to her.  The fire inside me was almost uncontrollable.  I wanted to make her mine, take her home and never be without her.  My desire for her made all other wants and desires in my life fade in comparison. I was glad she tripped, so then I could touch her and not scare her away.  The bond was very strong already and we had just found it.   Fear crept into my heart as I realized what our love meant.  It went against all laws, all common sense and against the will of the Kings.  I realized that she was in danger from being my mate.  Do I run? Do I reject her?  I don't think I could do that?  It's already so strong I can hear our hearts beating in unison. I did not know where this road was going to take us but we would do it together. I reached for her hand and she let me take it. "I am Adden Prince of the Fairies" and he kissed the back of her hand and my ignited and there was no turning back now. She stared back at me with shock on her face, her electric green eyes swimming with desire and he pulled me close to her and kissed me.  She kissed me with a fierce desire and I slid my hands around her waist and pulled her close, kissing her back matching her desire.   Back to Delilah A soft knock at her door interrupted her thought, it was her mother.  Her soft gentle mother whom only had supportive words to say about anything else.  Delilah hoped that she would be a worthy ally in this fight with her father. Her mother came and shut the door.  Standing looking at her daughter and took a deep breath and walked over to sit by her daughter.  They sat in silence for a while and then her mother grabbed her hand.  "You know it's very dangerous for a vampire to give birth to anything other than a vampire?" She sat silent again just holding on her daughters hand.   Finally Delilah said "I know mother, but we are mates and we are in love.  The Moon Goddess put us together for a reason, I must trust that." She pulled her hand from her mother and laid it on her belly almost protectively.   "Your Father and I will need some time to process everything you just told us.  It seems that over night my daughter went from a free spirited little girl to a grown mated woman.  I will see you in the morning for breakfast." With that her mother got up and left the room, quietly closing the door behind her.   Delilah rested her head on her pillow and hoped that everything would turn as Adden had said it would.  He promised that our child would change the realm, that it would unite both sides and end the endless war.  He told her that it was girl because women were much stronger than men in the ways of heart and that is what will be needed to heal this land with such a great long standing divide. Something in her Father's eyes said otherwise, he looked terrified and would not even look at her after she made announcement. Over at Adden's Palace "WHAT?? Your mate is a vampire and not just ANY vampire its Princess Delilah?"  The fairy king was astonished.  Adden saw both fear and amusement flash in his father's eyes as he processed his announcement.   "This cannot stand, you know the law forbade this relation for your own good you must reject her." The king turned his back as if he was done with conversation. "I will not reject her, we have been fully mated under the eyes of the Mood Goddess herself and she carries my child." Adden stated with confidence.  The king stopped walking away but did not turn back around.  The words that came out of his father would turn his world upside down "The child must be destroyed, it cannot be born it will destroy our worlds." The king closed his eyes hoping that his emotions did not betray him.  Adden was instantly angered by his father's words. His hair turned white with shimmers, his eyes turned a deep dark purple and his wings splayed turning the ends of tips black which was attach mode.  He stood there for a moment looking at his father's back willing him to turn around and see his son and he did. Dead staring at his father his voice boomed the following "My mate is Princess Delilah of the vampire realm, we have completed the mating ceremony and she will not be touched by anyone in this realm. She carries your queen." And with lighting speed he came to nose to nose with his father and in almost a whisper "It is not for your to cast judgement on whom the Mood Goddess pairs as mates." And with that he turned, folded up his wings and walked confidently out of the hall with his footsteps echoing around him.  King Idean watched his son walk away from as a man, he could not blame him for his retort.  He requested that rest of the people leave the hall and they did.  He sat upon his throne for a bit thinking of not much but at the same too much.  Adden's mother had died many years ago and it had been just them for a very long time.  He was still in shock and began to make his way to his chambers.  Half way down the hall the king stopped and listened for footsteps and heard none he turned toward the wall and said a few magic words and the wall faded to blackness and the king stepped through it saying a few more magic words and the wall reappeared hiding his entrance point, Idean held out his hand and light his way with a fireball.  The walk was 40 min and usually he flew it but he wanted time to think.  Soon enough the path opened up to a chamber, filled with a bed, couches, vanity and several pictures.  It was a royal suite.  As soon as she saw she ran to him. "Oh Idean, what are we going to do?" Julia Queen of the vampires embraced him with all her might and he embraced her and she began to sob uncontrollably.  He just held her and waited for her speak again.  "How did this happen? After everything we have done keep us quiet to not make waves and now it falls upon our children to change the world like we were unable to do?" She began sobbing again and they say on the couch and held his mate as close to him as he could he wanted to badly to change things.  He hated seeing her like this. "My daughter will die giving birth to a non-vampire." she said through her sobs.  She sat up and pulled away from him, she was quiet and not looking at him. He followed her profile line, he traced the wisps of hair around her face, he noted her elegant shoulders and how her dress showed her curves in her waist.  He took in a deep breath and shook the thoughts from his head.  He had gotten good at that after all these years.  He looked at her and remembered when he first met her.  He was just barely 21 years old and his mother was very worried about him finding his mate and he was tired of the conversation.  He had taken himself out for night fly, he was enjoying the moon and the stars floating on the warm summer air and for not particular reason he took a dive into the trees.  He loved the speed and the thrill and suddenly he could feel his mate near, his heart began beating loudly in his ears and his dive began spinning out of control. This crazy desire to want something more than anything every engulfed him and he crashed into the ground right in front of her.  Lady Julia stood there in shock at what she just saw, she was not sure what just came flying at her and she was breathing hard with adrenaline after having to scoot out of the way so quickly and as she looked at the thing laying on the forest floor covered in mud and sticks and leaves it hit her, he was her mate!! She ran to him and touched his shoulder trying to ignore the fire that coursed through her body from touching him. He groaned and began moving to stand up. As he stood up he was so tall and he was a FAIRY!!  His white hair now matted with mud and sticks was beautiful.  His hand held her and they looked into each others eyes and she had never seen his color eyes before, lavender.  "Your wing is broken" her words coming out almost as a whisper. "Idean, Idean" She was shaking him back to reality "Could we come up with a spell that would help my daughter live? I think that's the only way.  We should support them and help them.  Just because no vampire has every given birth to a non-vampire does not mean they have to die.  Right? I mean Delilah could be right, the Moon Goddess wants us to heal the bond that's been broken for longer than time has been keeping track."  She looked at him hopeful.   "Let's do some reasearch and see what we can come up with.  I know the witches on the southern mountains and they are good white witches."  He stood up and held her little hands in his huge hands and they kissed.  "I will tell Adden that we are going to help them.  I am going to tell him about us, it's the only way he will trust us I think." "I am going to do the same with Delilah.  To hell with all others.  We should've done this years ago but time has done what it has done and we cannot turn back time."  She looked up at him with her swollen eyes from crying and he carefully caressed her face and bent down to kiss her.  She kissed him back with a fierceness that he had not felt for some time and he returned the kiss, wrapping his arms around her waist and lifting her off the ground.   He set her down and pulled away.  "I must go, Adeen was quite angry with me the last time I saw him. Him and I will go to the white witches lair tomorrow.  Let us meet back here in 3 days time."  She smiled at him and he this made his heart happy.  He never liked seeing his mate sad.  They did not have the usual mated bond because they had to be other people so the emotional attachment had been weakened over the years of feeling them others.  As he turned to walk back toward his palace he wondered if they would ever be able to get that back after all these of forced separation.
