Thomas stood at the entrance to his hidden cave watching his Warlock ride up the side of the mountain. They had been working together for years and now it was time to set this into motion, he was finally going to get what was is rightfully his. His brother Vlad was so weak hearted. He was weak with his people and they did not respect him. He was weak with punishments, weak with boarder control, to Thomas Vlad was weak with everything. He took a deep breath of cold forest air and turned around and headed inside his secret cave. There was much to plan, and he sought to get going on it.
Meanwhile
The guard that saw Thomas leave out the window asked for an audience with King Idean. This faithful guard followed Thomas as far as he dared and wished to report to the King his findings.
“Your Highness,” He bowed with respect “I must speak with you.”
“I am tired and famished from the party. Would you care to join me for a meal while we talk?” King Idean was always open to talking with his guards. Idean waved his hands toward his servant ordering two plates of food and directed the guard to sit down next to him at the great table. “What is on your mind?” Idean looked over has his guard and realized he looked genuinely concerned, Idean sat up a bit taller in his chair and took notice.
“I was standing guard at the north entrance when I noticed a figure appeared out of nowhere. It seemed to appear out of the shadows, like the shadows made it.” The plates of food were served, and the guard nodded a thanks to the servant. “I know that the Prince and the Princesses were just inside that window because I could hear them laughing. Anyway, this figure had wings, big black wings and was very tall wearing a long black coat. It flew toward the north so I followed as far as I could. It crossed the boarder into the Vampire realm without an issue. That was when I turned around. I did not want to sound the alarm off.” The guard took a bite of his food and drink and let the King think about it.
“So, do you feel that this creature means to harm the Prince and the Princess?” King Idean asked
“Well, it was acting suspicious. Why not walk out the front door if that is the way you came? One would only have to sneak out if they snuck in.” The guard paused for a moment. “My wife helped the new Princess get ready for today. She loves her and it made us both excited for the future.” The guard stopped short of making a comment about ending the war. It was all the talk though, with new Vampire Princess and the King and Queen of the Vampire Realm visiting.
“I think you may have a point. Please tell the Captain of the guard about this and then have him come talk with me first thing in the morning. Thank you very much for your loyalty, I appreciate it.” With that the King stood up as did the guard and he walked toward his son’s chambers. He was very uneasy about this sighting of Thomas. He knew exactly who his guard had seen, only Thomas can live in the shadows and have giant black wings. Very unfortunate that he had gotten those unique Vampire features, he was evil through and through, his eyes gave him away because black eyes are a tell-tell sign that he has no soul.
King Idean came to his son’s door and knocked loudly and waiting to be called in. He had his mate with him now, his heart sank thinking of Julia, but he had to push that aside.
“Yes Father. We were just going to bed.” Adden opened the door and once he saw his father’s face, he pulled the door open wider and let him in.
“Thomas was spotted at the ceremony tonight.” Idean walked in his room and nodded to Delilah, who sat up immediately. “He snuck out the north window just above the guard who then followed him north but could not cross the boarder without raising the alarm.” He looked at Adden and then back at Delilah “I have a feeling that he is planning something and it’s not good. I am going to send a letter to your father, Delilah, and warn him.” He paused and sat on a chair and looked down at the floor for a moment. “Prophecy says there will be great resistance to the baby.” He pointed toward Delilah and went on “She will have all the magic of all the creatures and she will need them to defeat this resistance.”
“How did we make a child that would have the magic of all the creatures?” Delilah asked and subconsciously put her hand over her belly.
“Light Fairies are from the earth and all the creatures of the earth, Vampires are from darkness and are made from all creatures of the dark. Your mother and I were supposed to be mates the same as you and Adden. I can only think that it’s our bloodlines that must cross for this to happen.” Idean stood up and walked to the door. “I am going to send that letter to your Father now because time is of the essence here.” He paused for a moment with the door open and looked back at his son and his mate. “I am getting a lot of good feedback about out new Princess; she has made quite an impression thus far.” He winked at them and left the room.
“Adden, this is terrible. Thomas is terrible! He hates everything.” Tears welled up in Delilah’s eyes and Adden sat next to her on the bed holding her close. “I feel so bad I cannot be here to help my child defeat him. How is she going to know what to do? Who is going to teach her anything?” Adden just held her close and let her cry and ask questions that have no answers. He did have one answer though.
“I will be here to help our daughter. Marta told me I was to train her once she returned to our world.” Adden had left that part out earlier, he was trying to save her the needless worry, but he was hoping that it would calm her now.
“What? How will that be? I thought mates died without each other?” Delilah asked.
“I thought so as well but Marta said I would have to be the one to train her upon her return and that she needed to protect me as much as the baby.” Adden states sort of a matter of factly.
“Oh. My Love, that is great news. I am so happy you will live on without me. This makes me feel better, at least she will have one person she can trust with her life.” Delilah leaned into Adden and she did truly feel relief with this information but a bit of jealousy. He would know their daughter; he was very lucky.
‘King Vlad,
Please find that the following information is being given to you with utmost caution. Your brother Thomas was witnesses sneaking out of our ceremony last night using his shadow powers and flew off toward the north mountains. My guard could not follow him past the boarder.
I feel something evil is afoot here. Prophecy tells of a great resistance to the baby that will change our realms forever. I will make my way to your palace tomorrow at noon to discuss this further with you.
Rectfully,
King Idean of the Light Fairies
Idean sealed this handwritten note and sent with the guard to hand it off to the Vampire boarder patrol guard. He only hoped it reached him tonight.
