Mother Denise heart began to pound wildly. Fear had gripped her after witnessing what Denise had done. His eyes - the ones she thought were blind, unable to see violet or light - had changed. They were white as snow, emitting a faint, ethereal blue glow, and they were staring directly at her. Without saying a word, mother began to tremble. She found herself stepping backward, one step at a time, her hand clutching the cloth at her neck tightly. Her lips quivered as she spoke, her voice dry, "M - mother... mother, your eyes... your eyes..." Denise didn't answer. He was dazed, his head tilted to the side like a dog listening to a distant sound. Mother squinted, trying to believe what she was seeing. This was no longer her son. This wasn't the gentle boy who used to walk her to the market. This was something else. Suddenly, the large tree behind them began to emit a low growl. KRRRK... the leaves trembled without any wind. An evil presence filled the air. "Mother, where are you?!" Denise suddenly shouted, his voice a mix of fear and confusion. He raised his hands in the air, trying to grasp something that wasn't there. But mother wasn't for. She was on knees before him, beneath that massive trees, her hands clasped in prayer. Her eyes were red with tears and terror. "My God..." She whispered. "My son has returned... but it's not him." Denise turned his head sharply toward his mother's voice. And that's when he did something that shattered mother's heart into pieces. He smiled. But it wasn't a smile of joy. It was a cold, emotionless smile, like a predator staring at its prey. "Mother... I can see," he said in a low, terrifying voice. "I see... everything. Then, very slowly, he lifted his finger and pointed at something behind mother. Something mother couldn't see. "He's behind you," Denise whispered. He's laughing at you." Mother turned in fear, but she saw nothing. Just the tree. Just the leaves. Just the wind. But Denise saw it. He saw it very clearly. And tall, dark creature with holes where its eyes should be and a mouth turn all the way to its ears. It was leaning against the tree, staring at mother with hunger. Suddenly, Denise's body began to shake. Glowing red veins, like fire, started emerging beneath the skin of his arms, climbing toward his neck. He screamed in sharp pain and collapsed to the ground, his body curling like a withering leaf. "AHHH!" Mother leapt forward and embraced him, ignoring the danger. "Denise! My son!" But when she opened her eyes, she froze. Denise had fallen to the ground, yes. But his body... His body was covered in glowing red line like burning embers. Thin smoke was rising from his skin. And his white eyes were wide open, staring directly up, into the branches of the tree He wasn't looking at her. He was looking at something else. Something that was in the tree
