When they were done with Odiengo, Aldo excused himself to browse for booze at Chandarana again, and Harry phoned Esther. He said he wanted to see where she lived. She didn’t seem concerned or surprised.
Skebelsky’s proposal and Aldo’s apparent role in the fellow’s scheme had caused Harry to shift his attitude from layback tourist to wary expat. He had too many questions, and just how Esther figured into all of it was still a big one. All this mystery was getting annoying. Perhaps she wasn’t holding anything back. Perhaps she knew as little about plans for the project as he did.
