Rose was destined to die, either by Vinea's hand or theirs. Vanessa and Mortimer had their loaded crossbows aimed at the child levitating mid air. An act of such horrendous nature would stain their conscience forever and they would have to carry their guilt to their graves, but it was one life against a billion.
