On the Sheriff’s request a couple of demolition workers were called to the inn. Mortimer however, didn’t want to endanger their lives by sending them inside. Instead he took the sledgehammer from them and advised them to wait outside.
“Keep the main door open and get a priest here. If something goes wrong, ask him to seal the entrance with sacred nails,” he advised the Sheriff.
Mortimer was ready to go in when Reeves chipped in from behind, “Be careful out there. I want you to come out in one piece.”
“Don’t worry, I still have my payment to collect,” he replied and headed inside.
