Belial walked out of the church’s shadow and stepped into the light. As the first rays of the rising sun fell upon his new body, he let out an anguished groan. The sunlight had a petrifying effect on his sludge smothered body.  He immediately opened his cavernous mouth and summoned forth a swarm of sand locusts to shade him from the light. The insects covered the sky as far as the eye could see, blotting out the hazy December sun. Mortimer noticed how the sunlight had a weakening effect on the demon.
