Chapter 4

Clothes do make a man. When I saw Rafael in my home yesterday, he looked handsome and well put. However, there was something else about the white tuxedo that he was wearing. There was a rose tucked in his breast pocket. The tail of the tuxedo was embroidered with gold and his pants matched the colour. I stood beside him and he gave me a cold smile that did not reach his eyes. "In health, sickness..." Rafael repeated after the priest. His words while taking the vows seemed honest but I could see in his green eyes that he was not interested in her. He looked cold and far away. "You may kiss the bride" the short priest gave me a small smile and gave us an encouraging nod. Oh no. I am not ready for this. He came closer to me. I saw that his eyes were not green but they had yellow flecks and spots in them. I swallowed the lump in my throat as he came closer to me and shut my eyes at the gentle impact of his lips. The guests stood and some shouted while others clapped as loudly as they could. "I never thought Rafael would ever settle down" I heard Maria shout happily at Sebastian. So she does not know anything about the deal, eh? I frowned at the imagination of her happiness being destroyed if she ever found out the truth about the marriage. A beautiful limo was waiting outside the church's entrance. The car had beautiful white roses on top of it and a white rose bouquet on the front. It matched with my white rose bouquet. Rafael opened the door to the limo for me and I gathered my dress as I took my seat inside. I threw the bouquet to the girls who were anxiously waiting for the bouquet. They squealed when the bouquet was thrown and jumped to grab it. Rafael took a seat across of me in the limo. He undid the first two buttons of his tuxedo and placed his arms on the top of the seat. The limo was dark and also had white roses tied together to make a heart shape. "Are white roses your favourite?" I looked up at him and desperately wish he would answer me. The silence in the limo was making me nervous and I reddened when he didn't reply. He kept staring at me with those piercing green eyes and crossed his long legs. Just what was he thinking? The silence of the limo was filled with a phone's vibration. I did not bring my phone. So...it must be his. Rafael reached in his front pocket and took out his black iPhone 7. He smiled at the screen. "Hey Alejandra. What is it?" he asked smoothly. He had a deep husky voice and it was demanding. "I miss you too, babe. It wasn't my choice. I will tell you everything tonight" he smiled and gave me a glare when he turned off his phone. What did I do? I glared back at him. Married or not, I wasn't going to let him look at me like that. And what does he mean by meeting her tonight. Babe? The thought of Noah crept into my mind when I heard him talking. I still haven't gotten a chance to tell him about my marriage. He is really going to be upset. I bit my lip at the thought of losing Noah but I was married now. The car finally stopped and I was desperate for some fresh air rather than the nerve-wracking smell of musk and forest. Carlos opened the door for me and gave me an honest smile. He was also wearing a white tuxedo which made his blue grey eyes stand out even more than his black uniform. "Thank you, Carlos" I smiled at him and stepped out to come face to face with the biggest mansion I have seen. The front had a beautiful yard that was filled with flowers and the entrance had to pillars that rested in front of the French doors. There were probably at least a hundred rooms in that mansion. It was as if it was taken out of Ancient Rome or Greece. I loved the mansion since I was a huge history geek. I looked over at Rafael as he walked to the house and went in without even looking back at me. I grabbed my fluffy dress in my hands and walked through the path that had water on both sides of it. Carlos opened the door to the entrance for me. "Thank you. Does anyone else live here?" I asked him. "No. Just Master" he bowed and left. Only two people in this huge mansion. Why? He could just live in an apartment or penthouse if he is feeling fancy. I was greeted by two maids and a beautiful red carpeted spiral staircase. "Your room is this way" Roxana led me through the staircase and to the room that was at the end of the hall. I could hear Rafael talking on the other side of the hall. Yelling at probably his secretary. Or maybe a girl. Inside my room had a king sized bed and it had curtains tied up with poles. There was a huge balcony that gave the view of the city and right under it was the pool. "Do you need anything else?" Roxana asked me with a slight bow to her head. I wasn't a royalty. Why do they have to bow? "No thank you" I replied with a smile. I looked at myself in the mirror. My eyes bags from the morning were gone and instead I saw a beautiful bride in a gown every bride desires. Everything was perfect from the wedding to the house. But the person who I was married to wasn't. My phone rang and the screen showed the last person I wanted to talk to. Noah.
