Chapter 6: Moonlit Confessions

666 Words
The forest outside Silvercrest Academy was quiet tonight. Only the soft rustle of leaves and the distant cry of an owl filled the air. Moonlight poured through the branches, casting silver patterns on the ground. I didn’t know why I had come here. Maybe it was instinct. Maybe it was because I knew he would be here, waiting. And he was. Aiden stood at the edge of the clearing, golden eyes glowing faintly in the darkness. He didn’t speak at first. He just watched me approach, his posture relaxed, yet alert. Protective. “You shouldn’t be out here alone,” he murmured as I reached him. “I couldn’t sleep,” I admitted softly. “I needed… to see you.” His lips curved into a small, almost shy smile. “You came,” he said. “That’s enough.” --- The forest felt like our own world. No school. No rumors. No Vanessa. Just the two of us, and the bond that pulsed between us like a living thing. I took a tentative step closer, and he didn’t move away. Instead, he reached out, brushing a loose strand of hair from my face. The touch was electric. My stomach fluttered, and I shivered slightly, though I told myself it was the cool night air. “Aria,” he said quietly, voice low and intimate. “Do you know what it means… to be mine?” I shook my head. My heart beat so fast I thought it might give me away. “It means…” he paused, taking my hand and holding it gently, “that I will protect you. That I will fight for you. That I will feel everything you feel… even if you can’t yet control it.” I swallowed hard. “Everything?” “Everything,” he confirmed, stepping closer. His presence surrounded me, and the bond pulsed stronger. My mark glowed faintly beneath my shirt, warmth spreading through my chest and stomach. I looked up at him. “Aiden…” And he kissed me. --- It wasn’t like before. This kiss was slower, deliberate, filled with an intimacy that went beyond desire. His hands cradled my face, and I rested my hands against his chest, feeling the steady thrum of his heartbeat. The bond flared between us, golden light pulsing faintly through my mark. I felt him… inside me. Not literally, but emotionally, mentally, spiritually. Every thought, every heartbeat, every flutter of fear and hope was shared. “I’ve wanted this,” he whispered between kisses, his breath warm against my lips. “I’ve wanted you… like this, with me, completely.” I pressed closer, my heart opening to him despite fear. “I… I want this too,” I admitted. “I don’t understand it… but I want to be with you.” He pulled back just slightly, resting his forehead against mine. “That’s all that matters,” he said softly. “Right now, it’s just you and me. No pack. No rivals. No danger.” I felt a tear slip down my cheek. I didn’t know if it was relief, fear, or longing. Maybe all three. He wiped it away with his thumb, his touch gentle. “You’re not alone anymore, Aria. Not ever. As long as I’m here… you’re safe. You’re mine. And I’ll never let anyone or anything hurt you.” --- We stayed like that for a long time, arms wrapped around each other, breathing in sync, letting the night embrace us. For the first time since moving to this house, I felt… normal. Protected. Desired. Loved. Even though danger still lurked, even though Vanessa and the rogue wolves and the Alpha Council were still out there… nothing else mattered. Not tonight. Tonight, it was just Aiden and me. And the bond that tied us together, stronger than fear, stronger than doubt, stronger than anything else. And I knew, deep in my heart, that no matter what came next… we would face it together.
