Total darkness

I put my hands out to feel around in the dark. Suddenly the singing was heard. Happy Birthday to you. I groaned internally. Mom and Dad came from the kitchen with Mike and cake. Mike put his nose in the air again and asked Mom and Dad do you smell chocolate chip cookies? I saw the look my parents exchanged. What are they hiding? There was a fabulous smell coming in the back door and it made my mouth water. The smell of Mr. Kinley's smoked brisket hit my nose and I rushed to meet him. Hello Mr Kinley how are you today? Hello, Missy, he said. I'm well thank you. Oh, my favorite thank you, Mr Kinley. He immediately said Missy it's not cut yet but you have. to wait for everyone else to arrive before we eat. Fine, I groaned and he laughed and told me, patience child. Yes sir I told him. Soon everyone arrives and the party was underway with the amazing food. I had seen Jess and asked her where Mike disappeared to she had no idea. I saw these piercing blue eyes staring at me at the bottom of the tree. Weird I thought it's like the eyes are almost glowing. I asked Jess if she had seen what I had and I turned to get an answer but I was talking to myself. Just great now I'm going crazy too first Mike lost his mind now me. As I turned around to find my long-lost best friend Ashley I walked right into Jake. Oof sorry Jake I said and he quickly wraps his arms around me to stop me from falling on my ass after walking right into a brick wall named Jake. He laughed and told me it's OK. I looked up at his beautiful emerald eyes through my long lashes and smiled only to be pushed out of the way by none other than the cheer captain herself Natalie. Jake said hello to her as he was helping me up. Just when I thought things couldn't get any worse boy was I wrong.
