Chapter 1 Willow

My name is Willow Faye and tomorrow is my sixteenth birthday, where I will finally meet my wolf. Tomorrow is when I will shift for the first time when the moon is at its peak and I couldn't be more excited. I am an Omega of the Nero pack based in the mountains of Virginia. I attend a human Highschool in town, Southwest High. I'm finishing up my sophomore year and so ready to get through high school and meet my mate. But enough of that, I just need to get through today. It's friday and the weekend will give me time to bond with my wolf. She will be my second soul.

Highschool seems unimportant the grand scheme of things but our kind has to play by most of the human worlds rules, including going to school no matter what your rank in the pack is. I go to school with many other wolves including the Beta's daughter Ashley Nome and the Delta's son Parker Kelly. Ashley has made my life a living hell since our Alpha Jackson Pines' son, Ryan Pines, had his first shift at sixteen. She is convinced she will be his fated mate and luna. She sees me as a threat because out of the four of us, I have always been the closest with Ryan. Our fathers were best friends growing up even though my father is an omega. Ryan and I were thrown together as playmates when we were pups. The Alpha and my father are still great friends and still encourage Ryan and I to be best friends. Personally I think they are hoping I'll be his fated mate even though I hold no status. I think Ashley has caught on to that and that is why she sees me as a threat even though I have never showed a romantic interest in Ryan and only ever seen him as a brother. I'm pretty sure even if I was invisible that girl would still find a way to bully me. I've never told anyone about her behavior because I know I'm no threat to her as an omega and telling the alpha would just make her bully me more. I've found its better to just keep to myself and keep my head down.

When Ryan first shifted earlier this year, his wolf was large as is typical for alpha blood. He was black with golden flecks on his coat. It was an absolutely beautiful sight to be seen. Ryan later told us his wolf introduced himself as Blake.

Ryan left for Alpha training in San Diego, where all future alphas go to learn their role, the day after his shift and formally transferred schools. He'll be gone for the next two years. His father announced to the pack at his departure that once Ryan's eighteenth birthday arrived and he finally scented out and marked his mate and Luna, he would take over as Alpha.
