The next stage, I guess, was a very logical one to happen. Hannah’s father’s job meant that she had a wide circle of contacts into the London diplomatic world, especially at the embassy level and it wasn’t unusual that she had many invites to attend functions, especially the more informal ones. Themed fancy dress had become a fashion for many of the events.
Hannah wasn’t a massive party-goer but, with me visiting her, she decided to use one of these invites to attend a function. The invitation was from the Ethiopian Embassy and it was well known that they threw an excellent party with lots of colour, music and a good selection of food and wine, along with a cosmopolitan range of guests.
