EKON POV
I stopped my car opposite to her house. Unlike all the previous nights, her house was brightly lit. I smiled to myself as I see myself talking to her today. Finding out how she really looks. I observed the house for a while when I see shadows walking towards the door. Eva emerges from the open door. I feel myself smiling wider but it fades almost immediately when I see two guys walk out behind here. An unknown jealousy grew within me something I clearly have not experienced in a very, very long time. She hugged them and waved them away. I watched as her eyes screened from left to right possibly looking for someone.
Me hopefully.
Her eyes caught mine and I was sucked in by brown eyes. I was briefly disappointed when her eye colour did not match the girl from my dream neither does her dark hair. But her eyes looking at me caused my heart to race. The familiar sense of my void being elevated from my heart sent all the right signs. She might not be the girl I dreamt of, but she definitely has answers to my heart’s desire. Her eyes seemed to look through my barriers and to my soul. Her gaze was intense.
She blinks and breaks the spell that our eyes spoke. She looked at the direction the guys left. Looking through my rear-view mirror I realised that they were neighbours. Turning to look back at Eva, she walked into her house and closed the door. I sighed feeling dejected. I gathered myself and put on my suit jacket and got out of the car. As I walked to her house, I realised she has switched off all the lights in her house. I stood at her doorstep contemplating if I should ring the bell. I withdrew my hand from the bell and walk back to my car deciding to drop by first thing in the morning.
I climb into my car and turn on my car. I take a last peek at her house to close my door when a light turns on deep within her house. I looked at my watch and see it is now past midnight. Remembering the times, I’ve seen her at the beach, I realize it was both past midnights. I quickly put my car into gear and drove to the parking lot then walked the balance of the way to the dock. The spark of hope now burning brighter as I get closer with every step I take.
The dock came into view and I watch as her lay back on the floor of the dock with her head propped on the body of her dog and her dangling over the edge of the dock. I stopped close to the dock as her voice flows with the wind as she hums a beautiful tune. I never realised that I was observing her until it was to late.
“Will you stand there all night?” her sweet voice sang. Wait. Did she just ask me?
“s**t” I cursed softly. Judging by her soft giggles, I think she heard me.
“You were talking to me, weren’t you?” I ask still planted at the same spot.
“Well there sure isn’t anyone else here beside you. You do realise this is a private property you’re standing on, right? She asked courteously. How can someone be so polite is beyond me?
“Should I leave then?” I don’t even know why I even gave her a choice. I just hope she doesn’t ask me to get off the property.
“Do you want to?” she asks softly leaving me hanging. Now I’m nervous. I never get nervous but I don’t know how to answer her. She could call the cops on me not that I can’t handle it but it will only complicate things. But her speech was soft and sweet. Not even a hint of arrogance nor pride laced her voice.
‘What do I do now?’ I ask myself.
