The sky grew darker by the minute, and night fell thick and heavy all around me. Dragging my exhausted body, I walked into the kitchen and pulled a bottle of red wine from the wine cabinet. Wyatt and I had kept this bottle stored away for years—we'd always planned to open it only for something worth celebrating. I thought today counted, after all—a celebration for him getting exactly what he wanted, and for me breaking free from this miserable marriage.
