Episode 3: The Stranger’s Warning
The hooded figure stepped into the room, his golden eyes gleaming like molten fire. Elaria’s breath hitched as he raised a gloved hand. A gust of wind howled through the open window, snuffing out the candles.
Her grandmother reacted instantly, stepping in front of her. “She is not ready,” she hissed.
The stranger tilted his head. “She doesn’t have a choice.”
Elaria’s heart pounded. “Who are you?”
The stranger ignored her, turning to her grandmother. “If we don’t leave now, they will take her.”
A shiver ran down Elaria’s spine. “Who will take me?”
Before anyone could answer, a heavy knock thundered against the door. The sound was wrong—too powerful, too hollow, as if something inhuman stood on the other side.
Elaria’s grandmother paled. “They’re here.”
The stranger cursed under his breath. He turned to Elaria. “You need to run.”
Elaria took a step back. “I don’t even know you! Why should I—”
The door exploded inward, shards of wood flying through the air. A monstrous figure stepped inside, its shadowy form writhing as if it were made of smoke. It had no face—only two glowing red eyes that locked onto Elaria.
The room turned ice cold.
A voice, dark and guttural, slithered through the air.
“Moon-Blessed… you belong to us.”
Elaria’s blood froze.
The stranger moved in a flash. He grabbed her wrist and yanked her toward the open window. “No time for questions. Jump!”
Elaria looked at her grandmother, panic seizing her.
Her grandmother gave her one last desperate look. “Go, child. Find the truth.”
Then, before Elaria could protest, the stranger pulled her out the window—straight into the unknown.
