Chapter 3: His Castle!

2141 Words
After walking for what felt like forever, August finally got tired. He wanted to collapse from walking as his legs was now aching. "What type of a building is this?" He whispered to himself as he seems to had been working in a circle, like an aimless fool with no destination in mind. There were so many long hallways that you could lost while turning from one to another. The different hallways was puzzling like a maze. "Maybe, I should just retrace my steps?" August thought as he cautiously leaned against a wall to regain his exhausted strength while his chest kept heaving up and down in a radical manner. It's been a tough struggle trying to figure out this hurdle. After resting for a while, August turned around and started walking back to where he'd come from. And the most apprehensive part about this whole thing was that there was no guard or maids in sight as the whole place looked quiet and deserted too. Well, that was actually the least surprising thing because when he tried to locate the room he'd come out from some minutes ago, it proved more difficult and baffling too than locating the stupid kitchen. It had disappeared and he was back to square one; walking in circles. "What is happening?" August whispered to himself once more. His voice strained and also scared in apprehension after noticing that he was obviously lost in a mysterious house. Is this a game? He wondered. He rested his head against a wall yet again as he tried to recollect his lost breath. Meanwhile, the guards had already informed their king and queen that the prince was on his way to the dinning room. So they had the maids serve the different dishes they'd instructed them to prepare; mainly his favorite. Their only son almost died but somehow, he'd managed to returned back to them in good health, so they wanted him to feed very well. After waiting for a while without any sign of their son, the king and queen became furious with anger. Was the guards lying to them? In anger, something flashed in the king's eyes as he became quiet. The queen didn't say anything as she was aware of what her husband was doing. In fact, she could've done the same if her husband didn't do it. The guards that was guarding the prince's room were conversing with each other when a voice came into their minds and they bowed their heads instantly upon realizing who the voice belonged to. "Your majesty" The two chorused. "Where is the prince?" The king's cold and harsh voice reverberated in their heads. The two instantly looked at their selves with invisible sweats on their foreheads. The two had one question in mind which was, if the prince wasn't in the dinning room, then where was he? "He's on his way, your majesty" The two chorused once again, ignoring the question marks on their minds. Who are they to question the prince? "For how long? What is your work?" The king's voice resounded again. And with their heads still bowed, they replied. "To guard him and to make sure that he's save" "Now do your job or else you two won't live to tell your stories" The king yelled and before the guards could reply, he ended the telepathic communication. "Yes,your majesty" The two guards chorused once more anyway and without being informed further, they sprinted towards the way that their prince had disappeared. August who was still trying to catch his breath while resting against a wall suddenly heard 'my prince' from afar and breathed sigh of relief. He looked back and saw two guards running towards him. But then the word 'my prince' made him to instantly comport himself in a dignified manner, in fact, it was as though he never ran like a mad man through the mysterious hallways with his heart almost falling out from his chest. "What is it?" He asked as he slowly turned to look at them, his face was stern and his voice cold and precise. "Sorry to disturb you, your highness" One of the guards apologized. "The king is angry because you're not their yet" "Where?" August asked obliviously. "The dining room, your highness" "The king and queen are already waiting for you" Immediately they said this, his stomach rumbled and so the guards eyed his stomach confusedly. "What are you looking at? Lead the way" August spat angrily, pretended one. "Yes, your highness" The guards shut their mouths as they led their prince towards the dinning room. August heaved a sigh of relief once more. So a problem can be solved so easily? Well, it's really good to be an important figure with so much power. Ever since he got to this place, he noticed that he's been changing, even the way he speaks to the guards surprised him; a small writer like him. And it made him to wonder if the character of the owner of his body was possessing him? Nonetheless, August was determined to get more information about this mysterious place, more especially, he wanted to go out and enjoy himself; if possible, he will dispose the stupid title. He didn't want to be a prince at all. But unknown to him, he was more than just a prince. With the guards walking ahead of him while he was behind them, just like a magic, they only made a turn to their right and a massive dinning room which August had almost spent the whole day searching for, came into sight. Even though the character of the previous owner of the body was still disturbing him like he claimed, August couldn't stop himself from showing how astonished and mesmerized he was. How did they managed to do it? He wanted to ask but because their was no one to ask, he just shut his mouth. He couldn't guarantee that this scary people will spare his life if they knew that he wasn't their son. Thus, it was better to remain as discreet as possible. "We've been waiting for you, son" The mother said with a beautiful and warm smile on her enchanting face. A smile that August was sure would vanish without a trace if she learnt that he wasn't her real son. "What kept you so long?" The father asked. August couldn't say anything as he tightened his mouth; it was wise to shut up instead of f**king up. So, he pulled a chair opposite his so called parents and silently sat down. The dinning table was so big with well designed brown and black chairs surrounding it. He just looked at the two powerful people that was now his parents and swallowed a lump in his throat. Their appearance and everything about them just screamed power, authority and influence; a trait that he was sure was also visible on him; just that his, was just a facade since the owner of the body was no longer alive. What a pity!!! But he wanted to know one thing and before he could think it twice, he'd already opened his mouth. "Are we vampires?" But he mentally slapped himself when he looked at the different dishes on the table. Doesn't vampires rely on blood? Block head. "Mmmm" August cleared his throat before grabbing a fork and knife. "It's a joke" He said before stuffing his mouth with rice and meat like a hungry man that has never seen food in ages. Both the King and queen couldn't say anything but to stare at him speechlessly. "Son, you have to stop acting this way because it's time for you to get up on your feet since you're now perfectly fine" His father began while his mother kept sending a warm smile across to him. "Your assistant is on his way to this place. He will show you how things has been going on in your company ever since you fell ill" Hm? What is he talking about now, I don't even know anything about this place and what's this about me having a company? August thought silently with eyes wide. But then, he remembered that it wasn't him but the original owner of his body which made him to sigh in relief. There was really no need to feel relieved because he was now this person's body owner, which in turn implies that he would have to be the one managing the company! Holy heavens. How on a earth was he supposed to pull that off? "Your father and I will be returning back to the kingdom since we can't stay out for a long time. We also need to inform the family of your bride to be that you're now perfectly fine and we can proceed with the necessary arrangements" The mother added. Cough...... Shivers ran down August spine when he realized what he'd done; he almost choked upon hearing the words from his mother which had him coughing all the sweet content in his mouth. "I'm sorry" He whispered remorsefully. "It's okay, son. Take good care of yourself and don't fall sick again. The young doctor in your castle will take good care of you while we're gone" The queen didn't complain but just said this words with a warm smile still on her face. "And less I forget, she will be visiting you soon. Take good care of her" And just like that, the two got up after speaking turning to leave. "We're leaving" His father managed to say. August was totally dumbfounded as he couldn't say anything and under his beyond shocked eyes, his so called parents walked away. Where did this attitude come from? Weren't they sad when he was ill? And now he looked better, their soft side simply disappeared? And they were about to leave him alone in this big house? The prince indeed was lonely and he must have died from loneliness. What have I gotten myself into? No, who did this to me? He wondered as he stopped eating. He rested his back against the chair he was sitting as he tried to process the handful information that he just heard. He raised his hand to hold his head while they entwined. He looked really tired and stressed out and it had him wondering if a piece of information had the power to suppress one's mood in such an unlikely manner. Then the words from his new parents suddenly resounded in his mind, causing him to shudder with a wince. Indeed, a powerful piece of realization could actually scissors one's heart into shredded pieces. A company and a bride to be? Perfect!! They could've at least allowed him to enjoy his life before forcing a wife on him. Well, this is just the reason why he needs to run to a far place; far from all this headaches. There's no way he would survive here. A prince is supposed to be someone that's held high, as more is being expected from him and he couldn't be that person. As far as he was concerned, he's just a simple and small writer with no sense of responsibilities. He couldn't just stay here and pretend to be who and what he wasn't. Back in his room, August rested his back against the headboard of his spacious bed. You might wonder how he'd managed to locate it, right? Of course he utilized his power as the prince and commanded the two guards that he recognized their faces to follow him and they did without complaining. Good thing about being the so called prince. Actually, the dinning room wasn't far from his room and this fact made him to guess that something must've happened that made him to keep walking in a circle before. With his eyes firmly fixed on the ceiling, August went into a trance with nothing in particular to ponder over; there were so many things on his mind and he didn't know the on to consider. Things were just happening in a fast and unbearable manner. He'd wondered what sort of a building he was in when he stepped into the hallway and then continued to walk aimlessly in circles. And when his so called mother had mentioned that this was his castle, his heart almost jumped out of his chest in fright. If a young man with no family around could live in such a building, all by himself, just how rich was this people? What sort of a person was the owner of his body? An exhibitionist? Most probably. There were just too many questions in his mind and he needed the answer to all of them. An Idea suddenly popped up in his mind, which had him smiling. Why hadn't he thought of it before?
