THE RACE
The race is a term that many do not take into consideration in life.There is a big gape between RACE and RUNNING. In the atmosphere of race ,there is an idea of competition. And most at times this happens between horses , chariots, people . vehicles.....
Competition is a word that many do not want to hear especially believers in the Christiandom . Many ask questions like WHO ARE YOU COMPETING WITH?,WHO AM I COMPETING WITH? This mindset are for people that have failure as friend. In the race to win you must be a competitor. That is why Paul ask " Don't you realise that in the race everyone runs?". This means that the people never thought about their partners(opponents) in the race. He said"everyone " yes everyone of us is on the race field.
Whether we like it or not we are in the world of competition. Everyone is running to get to the top. Better wake up from your sleep and start running. The race is set,run to win.People that has the mind of competing in the world market always hit their target and goals. At the market place competition is the foundation of business growth. At the centre of competition skills and strategies are being developed. When competition is involved, you will run the race of life,of business,of ministry,of destiny well and better.
In Gal 5:7 Paul described the attitude of the Galatians in telling them that "you were running the race so well . Who has held you back from following the truth".
He was reminding them about their past and current attitude in the Christian faith . On the racing field, when you ignore your competitors then the energy to win is cut off. Their actions have reflected how they were eager in running the race at first and how they are now embracing failure neglecting their first zeal .
Ps 19:5 "It's burts forth like a radiant bridegroom after his wedding. It rejoices like a great athlete eager to run the race".
King David in this case was comparing the creations of God"sun " and "human " in a race. Even the creature of God which is the sun is eager to run the race. How much more we humans. In the affairs of men you can't run away from racing . You need that spirit of eagerness to be able to run the race of the affairs of life.
In the other hand,they were falling from the market of winners by throwing away the eager spirit they have started the race with. While the appetite of the race runs down then the crown at the end of the tunnel is taking by others.
Jer 12:5"If racing against mere men makes you tired, how will you race against horses? If you stumble and fall on open ground, what will you do in the thickest near the Jordan ".
Being tired in the race can't make you attend your height.
On this table of competition Jeremiah illustrated that there are levels of fields in racing.He is asking a question ' if you are stumbling on the field of race then how can you complete with the giants,the strongest, the champions' ?
You can not just run the race anyhow.You can't just compete anyhow. You need to follow the rules of the game . You need to adhere to the strategies of winners. You need to be focused, follow your root,be in your line by working on yourself, pressing on to win the trophies.
Nahum 2:4 says " the chariots race recklessly along the streets and rush wildly through the square. They flash like firelight and move as swiftly as lightning".
A reckless driver will always crush on the way to his destination. Maintain the energy in running to win.No race,no victory.No victory,no reward..
