Chapter 2

This has to be the worst day of my life! Not only is my boyfriend cheating on me but it’s with one of his students! “That son of a b***h” “I can’t believe this!” “I’m going to kill him” “Holy s**t” “What should we do now?”  We all said these phrases multiple times. We had been driving around town venting and coming up with a plan. “Pull over, I’m gonna call my brother. Then, we’ll go back to the apartment and I’ll get my stuff.” We pulled over at a McDonald’s. I leaned on the hood of Ciara’s car while they ran in to get drinks.  My brother Christian is fives years older than me. He’s always taken care of me. We were taught that family is everything. We’ve always had each other’s backs. “Sis what’s up?” “I need you to come up to my apartment, I’m leaving Jason and I need a place to stay.” There was a pause “Leaving Jason? Not that I’m not happy but what happened?” “Well I’ve caught him red handed cheating and there’s more into it but I’ll tell you more about that later. Can I stay at your house?” “ Angel it’s home, you never need to ask me if you can stay here. I’ll get a few things and be up there ok?” “Ok, thanks” Christian took over our parent’s house when they passed unexpectedly. So he’s right, it is home. Dominique handed me a sweet tea. “Thanks” “ You know Christian is gonna kill Jason.” She said. “I wouldn’t mind right now, but I can’t have my brother in jail eitehr.” I sighed. Ciara: “Bring it in guys, this calls for a group hug” “Thanks guys, I don’t know what I’d do without you” Dominique: “You’d do the same for us.” “Let’s go, I want to get my stuff out of that place.” We rode in silence. I was thinking of a plan in my head when I smiled. My name isn’t on the lease for the apartment. I can walk out scot free and stick him with all the bills, this is a small victory. We didn’t have any joint accounts. Aside from the shame, heartache and anger, I can walk out unharmed.  My brother and his girlfriend Dru  will be happy to have me home. He never really liked Jason, he only tolerated him for me. He always thought he acted like he was too good for some people. Things always had to be his way. We pulled up to the apartment. I knew there was a chance he was already home. “Thanks guys, I’ll call you later” They both said bye as I closed the car door. I took a deep breath and went up to the fourth floor. I got half my stuff packed before Jason came back.  I worked in silence. I had tears running down my face but I knew I wanted nothing to do with him. I finally heard him unlock the door and walk through the apartment. “Angel I can explain…” I snorted “Ya I’d love to hear what bullshit you’ve come up with” “It was an accident, she just needed help studying…” “Just stop….we both know that’s a damn lie! And she’s your student!? That’s illegal!!” “You know what fine! Here’s the truth, she pays attention to me more than you ever have, and she’s 17 which is the age of consent!” “Oh yes because that makes it better and she’s supposed to pay attention to you to graduate! Sucking your d**k doesn’t count as extra-curricular activities! Or extra credit!” “Well at least someone was! You won’t give it up til marriage! I’m your boyfriend!” “You’re pathetic! You’ve known all along I wanted to wait til marriage! This isn’t new and if you weren’t ok with that then you should of left from the beginning!” “It didn’t bother me in the beginning, but that changed! I have needs and you didn’t seem to care! I thought you’d eventually change your mind but that didn’t happen!” “That’s why you’d always bring it up? To try and change my mind? You know I just assumed when you started sneaking around that you were planning a proposal……and I couldn’t have been more wrong” “You understand I wasn’t a virgin when we started dating right? Slutty girls where always throwing themselves at me..you didn’t and that’s why I liked you, for the chase I guess…..but then it become boring and I got tired of waiting! There’s nothing special about waiting for anyone, especially you! You think you’re so special, well your not!” I pushed him hard as I tried to leave the room with my last bag. He stumbled and knocked over a lamp, it shattered all over the floor.  “You’re such a b***h” “Oh am I? Cause I’m pretty sure I bought that f*****g lamp and you know what come to think of it I’ve bought a few things in this apartment!” I started grabbing plates, bowls, glasses, anything I’d bought and smashing them on the floor. I’m not going to lie it felt amazing. Jason reached and grabbed my arm really hard yanking me away. “What the f**k Angel!” “Go ahead and call the cops Jason. When they ask why we were having an argument I’ll let them know it was because you were cheating on me with one of your underage students!” He just stared at me, he knew I was serious.    We didn’t hear the door open til we heard my brother’s voice, “Get your f*****g hands off my sister.” We both turned and Jason dropped his grip from my arm. My brother had a gun pointed at Jason. I wasn’t surprised by this but Jason sure was. “Sis get your bag and let’s go” He never took his eyes off Jason. Of course he wasn’t going to move or say thing out of fear.  I grabbed the last bag and headed for the apartment lobby.  My things were already down there. I needed fresh air.  I felt like screaming and puking all at once.   “Wait here by the curb, I’ll bring the truck around to load it all up. Hey, you ok?” “Yea….. I’m fine” That was a lie. I was shaking all over from anger and sadness. I stood by the curb and cried. I was trying to take slow deep breaths and pacing by my things. As I turned to look up the street I could see motorcycles heading towards me. I love bikes, they reminded me of my grandpa. Him and my brother loved building them. It made me feel like grandpa was telling me everything will be ok. Three bikes came into view and went by. The last in line caught my attention though. It was a very sleek all black Harley Davidson. I was admiring the bike when I noticed the rider was looking at me, well I assume he was.  He was dressed in all black and had a helmet on, so I couldn’t see his face.  It seemed like a long time that he stared, but I’m sure it was only a couple minutes until they were gone. “Is this all your stuff?” Christian had pulled his truck up to the curb. “Ya I already have some of it in my car, I’ll follow you home.” I took one last look at the apartment building in my rearview mirror. Happy I was leaving, and sad at the same time.
