Chapter 3
Lust
He should share some of his guts.
I couldn't manage to think straight. For some reason, I don't really like what I am seeing. I was happy the whole time I was in town, but when I saw them both, my day is already ruined.
“Cierra, wait,” Kade laughed.
And he really has the nerve to laugh at me? He knows that I don't like what Janine did.
“Don't touch me!” I dropped the bear on the ground when he finally caught me. He made me turn around as he picked up the bear.
“Where'd you get this? It looks like you...”
What the hell does that even mean?
Janine followed him all the way here. I should salute her for her bravery. She should have some explanation for what she did to me yesterday.
“Are you trying to say I look like a monster?”
Kade playfully shrugged. “What? No!” he let out a boisterous laughter. “I'm trying to say you look cute. This bear is cute.”
I crossed my arms. Janine went to his side as she now finally met my gaze. She was looking sheepish before she decides to look away. I know that she feels guilty for what she did. I tried to stop her but she continued her plan. She sure knows what she was doing.
“Uhm... Cierra, about yesterday...” She moved forward. I raised an eyebrow.
“I'm sorry,” she uttered and bit her lower lip.
“You should be,” I replied.
“W-What?”
“Cut the act. I know you know what you did,” I said. “I told you I don't want to go, but you forced me to go inside that maze.”
“You said you're bored! I just thought that it would be fun, you didn't even try to remove my hold, that's why I thought it was just fine.”
I made sure to let her know that I don't have any idea what she was talking about. I scoffed.
“I never said I was bored. And how could I remove your hold? You were dragging me!”
It was like she was offended by what I said. She quickly reacted by looking at Kade, she shrugged her head as she begged him for help. Kade whistled as he went to me and wrapped his arm around my shoulders. He faked a cough.
“We should excuse ourselves,” he said as he shortly looked at Janine. “It's nice talking to you. You should get back to business now.”
I saw how Kade was watching my reaction. I rolled my eyes. He sighed. I simply looked back to see Janine. And just like how we left her there, her mouth was opened while she was still puzzled.
“What a nice way to welcome your fiance,” I said with full bitterness.
As soon as we reach our room, Kade locked the door and went to the bed, he dropped the bear there. It looks like none of this even matters to him. There's a playful smirk on his face as he sat down on the bed. He tapped the space on his side. I couldn't help to roll my eyes as I ignored his offer.
“What?” he laughed. “Why do you seem so angry?”
“Stop fooling around, Kade.”
He raised an eyebrow, “I am not.”
I wasn't really that far away from him. That's why when he reached out to me, he didn't have a hard time and effortlessly caught my hand. I swallowed hard when he made me sit on his lap.
I tried to move but he wrapped his arms around me. My back rested on his chest as he put his head on my shoulder. I feel so small as he hugged me, I don't really notice much about our differences, but now, I could swear that he's got a big frame. My throat ran dry as I got lost for words. He intertwined our hands.
My heart kept skipping a beat with everything he does. How could he have this kind of effect on me? I wasn't supposed to be his mate in the first place.
“I already talked to her this morning,” he said. “She said she was sorry, but I know that it would be much better if she'll ask for your forgiveness personally.”
“Oh really? Then why are you flirting with her earlier?”
“I wasn't,” he chuckled. “I just got home then I saw her. Janine was one of the Beta wolves in the pack. She also got some duty to report to me... The reason why we're laughing is that because I cracked a joke—”
“Do you like her?” I straightforwardly said. He was stopped. I could feel how his hold on my hand loosened before he uncomfortably heaved a sigh.
“You're my fiance, Cierra. Why are you even thinking about that?”
I forcefully removed his hold on my hand and stood up. He couldn't manage to look at me while he just stayed sitting on the bed.
“You like her don't you?” I asked with no emotion. “Be honest with me.”
He shrugged.
“Liar. I know you do,” I crossed my arms. “She told me that if it wasn't only out of your pity to save my dying pack, you would marry her instead.”
He looked at me seriously.
“She said what?”
Instead of answering his question, I decided to sit on his lap once again. He was surprised but he didn't try to stop me. I cupped his face and with all of my might, I decided to kiss him.
It was clear that he was surprised. I pulled him close. He wasn't responding to any of my kisses at first, but soon enough, his hand snaked to my waist as he slowly plunged me into the bed. He got on top of me and he started to kiss me roughly. I whimpered as he made me open my mouth before he started to explore every side of it.
I could feel my body heating up. While continuing with our kisses, he caught both of my hands and pinned them at the top of my head.
“Kade...” I whispered his name.
We both gasped for air after a minute. I opened my eyes and looked at him. He was looking so angry as he began to kiss and suck on my neck.
“Kade,” I called for him again.
This wasn't what I thought. I thought that he would push me away once I try to kiss him. Why is he doing this?
I arched my back when he welcomed me again with his hungry kisses. His left hand stayed holding both of my hands while the other began massaging my left mound.
“Ah...” I moaned.
My face heated up. I feel so weak with what he's doing to me.
“f**k,” he mouthed.
What the hell did I do? Did I just provoke him?
I was out of breath when he started undressing me. It was hard for him to the point that he need to stop for a moment so that he could properly untie my laces. My heart was beating so fast as I just watched him. He pushed the teddy away which caused it to fall out of the bed.
But before he could fully undress me, I finally pushed him away. He was still catching his breath as I got out of bed. I gazed at him. He looks flushed with his lips half-opened.
I looked at myself in the mirror and saw that my perfectly tied-up bun was already ruined. Left with no choice, I just decided to fully remove the bun and let my hair fall freely.
“We need to stop before it gets out of hand,” I said with full confidence. I wiped my mouth and felt it burning. I could feel it quivering because of his rough kisses.
“W-What?” Kade looked at me with so much passion in his eyes.
I helped myself to tie again my laces before I replied. “I know you love Janine. I want to help you with her.”
“What the f**k do you even mean?”
I looked at him seriously. “You only kissed me back earlier because of lust, I could feel it. But in the back of your mind, you wish it was her.”
“No, of course not! Why are you thinking of it that way?”
I snapped my fingers in the air.
“Stop it. You have known her longer compared to me. I know that you would be happier if you'll have the chance to marry her instead of me.”
He was speechless. His Adam's apple moved as he swallowed hard.
Without waiting for what would his reply be, I decided to leave the room. I was still flushed while remembering what just happened between us. I nearly gave in, but I'm glad that I didn't.
I should set my priorities straight. I hate him. I damn hate him to the core and I just shouldn't let him take control of my body.
I'm glad that I was able to get myself out of that scene 'cause if I didn't, I would surely hate myself forever.
“What do you want now, grandma? Your caretaker isn't around.” I frowned as I saw Janine and Kade's grandma from the distance.
Janine looks very irritated while looking at the old lady.
“I wonder what will happen if—”
“Hi, Grandma!” I greeted as I looked at Doña Constanciana. She was sure happy when she saw my face. A small smile crept on her lips.
“Cierra! I didn't notice you around— I thought you were with Kade?” I ignored Janine as I continued looking at Doña Constanciana, slowly observing her.
“What are you doing here all by yourself? Where is your caretaker?” I asked in a gentle tone. She was looking at Janine and was slowly moving her fingers to point at her, but I couldn't understand.
“What's happening here?” Kade suddenly appeared. I stood up to face him.
“Well I found her and Janine all alone here, it seems to me that her personal caretaker isn't around.”
Kade went to his grandmother while I looked at Janine suspiciously.
“What?!” She said.
I didn't reply.
Minutes after, a woman who seemed to be the caretaker came running back, now with a glass of water in her hand.
“Alpha Kade—” she bowed. Kade was perplexed as he looked at her.
“Can you tell me why you left my grandmother all alone here? Do you want me to fire you?”
I was immediately moved by what he said. I caressed his arms as I got close to him. He looked at me shortly before he focused again on the caretaker.
“I'm very sorry, sir,” she stated. “It's just that ma'am Janine ordered me to get her a glass of water.”
We all looked at Janine. It looked like she was really guilty for she can't even meet our eyes.
“I politely disagreed since I should be with Doña Constanciana all the time, b—but ma'am Janine offered that she would be the one who'll look after her for a while.”
Kade was in disbelief when he looked at Janine. I clung to his arms as I tried to calm him down.
“Is this true?”
“I do not deny it...” Janine answered. “My deepest apologies, Alpha, I thought it was fine.”
All of this just doesn't make sense. I'm sure it wouldn't cause her trouble to get a glass of water all by herself. It's not that much of a hassle.
I do not understand.
Kade gave me a quick look as if he was trying to see my reaction, but I didn't give him the satisfaction. Instead, I looked away.
“Alright, I understand. But please, if you really couldn't get a glass of water by yourself, you could just ask anyone else... not grandma's caretaker.”
My head turned to Janine. She smiled as she nodded.
“I'll make sure this won't happen again, I'm sorry.” Janine then turned to Doña Constanciana as she bowed her head. “I apologize for my seemingly inappropriate behavior, Doña Constanciana, I swear, this won't happen again.”
Janine didn't say anything else. After that, she went to excuse herself and flew off the scene. My eyes went to Kade's grandmother and watched her reaction. She seemed a bit relieved now that we were here, unlike earlier.
I wonder what happened.
Based on my interactions with Janine since I first got here, I cannot deny that I actually don't like her. She came out rude, unlike what I can remember from before, she was so gentle and kind to everyone. But this new version of her just seems so weird. It feels so wrong.
“I still have a meeting to attend...” Kade uttered after a long moment of silence. His vision went to my arms before it went to meet my eyes. I was immediately terrified as I distanced myself. He cleared his throat.
“With the officials of the Xerene Wolf Pack,” he added.
“Oh... if that's so... then you should go.”
Kade nodded. None of us dared to talk after that. I kept my hands together as I looked down.
Awkwardness immediately flew in the air as seconds continue to pass by. Kade sighed.
“I hope to see you later.”
I paused. I searched for words to say before I looked at him.
“I'm always here, Kade.”
“Yeah, I know. But I hope you won't hide from me later... you should still sleep in our room.”
I didn't reply.
After what happened earlier? I doubt I still can.
“I want to talk to you properly...” he stated. “... about what happened in the room—”
“Oh! It's fine—” Why is he even bringing that up? It's too embarrassing! “I hope I didn't bother you that much about it, that wasn't supposed to happen in the first place.” My cheeks blushed.
Kade took a few steps forward but stopped when I also stepped back.
“Farewell,” he sighed. “I'll see you later.”
“Of course.”
The moment he left, I was left stuck in the hallway for minutes. Left without having any idea what I'll do and where I'll go is such a waste of time. I am thinking of sneaking out all by myself again outside. I don't know; maybe to meet some witches that could help me with my situation, but I think it could wait for tomorrow.
Going out late at this time would lend me a lot of risks, even though it's partially scary, I... I should just take my time. And as I was left with no other choices, the option of going back to our room came to my mind.
“The hell is happening to me?”
I shut the door and was about to go to the balcony to breathe some fresh air but was stopped. My vision dropped to the teddy bear which is still on the floor.
Immediately, I felt flustered. He didn't seem to notice it, I bet. What happened earlier and what caused it to be in that state makes me want to get eaten by the ground.
I groaned.
I went to pick it up before I sat on the bed.
“All of this just feels illegal.” My body tirelessly lay on the bed. My eyes closed. “I shouldn't be here, it just seems like I'm ruining everything.”
The room being silent and tranquil just made it worse. I'm exploding with thoughts, and yet, everything is too silent. I never liked crowded and loud places, but at times like this, I would prefer to be where chaos exists.
“He should be with Jane. I don't think I could live peacefully if ever I get in the middle of their romantic relationship.”
Waiting for Kade felt like waiting for ages. Because I have nothing to do, I just found myself checking the time minute by minute. I couldn't calm down.
And by the time the doorknob moved, I already fixated my eyes on it to see who'll walk inside.
“Cierra? Did you wait for me?” Kade gave me a curious look.
I immediately composed myself as he shut the door. His eyes were weary and he looks very tired.
“No?” I answered. “Does it seem like it?”
“Kind of.”
Kade breathed in heavily before he removed his coat and went to bed. I was standing and couldn't bear to get close to him so I just decided to watch him from a distance.
He got on to silently removing his shoes.
“Uhm...” I started. “So what exactly do you want us to talk about?”
When he finished what he was doing, he put his elbows on his knees and looked up at me.
“About the deal, you want to make,” he answered.
Deal?
Before I could even reply, he stood up and started making steps toward me. My throat immediately ran dry. I could feel my heart beating so fast as I took steps backward, but unlike this time, he didn't bother to stop.
He completely ate our distance until I was left with my back leaning against the cold wall.
For f**k's sake, he just got back.
I could already feel his hot breath as I pressed my lips against each other before I looked away.
“Kade...” I tried to push him but it was useless.
“Do you really want me to answer your question?”
Time stopped. Finally, I decided to look him in the eyes as flashbacks from earlier occupied my mind.
“I do,” he answered. “I do like her a lot. And I would really be happy if I'll settle with her and not you.”
Something pierced me in my heart as soon as he dropped those words. I am confused about how I feel. This shouldn't be it.
“I never really have the guts to tell you about it 'cause I don't want to hurt you...”
“... but if you're willing to help me...”
Kade noticed I wasn't answering so he made me look at him again by lifting my chin.
“Cierra...” My heart ached.
“Do you really want me to do this?”
