The Package

The first week at Stormfield Corporations passed faster than Elena expected. And surprisingly— Nothing terrible happened. No public humiliation. No impossible mistakes. No encounters with Adrian Stormfield after the executive hallway incident. Which honestly felt like a miracle. Slowly, Elena began adjusting to the exhausting rhythm of corporate life. She learned how reports were organized, how meetings operated, and how everyone inside the company seemed permanently busy. The pressure remained intense. But Elena worked hard quietly. And it showed. Even Gloria Anderson had stopped correcting every small thing she did. That alone felt like progress. By the time Friday evening arrived, Elena felt completely drained. Still, after office hours ended, she went directly to Florista like always. The warm scent of flowers instantly relaxed her the moment she entered the shop. Mrs. Silvy Waynes looked up from arranging tulips and smiled immediately. “There’s my corporate girl.” Elena laughed softly. “I’m definitely not a corporate girl.” Mrs. Waynes raised an eyebrow knowingly. “You work at Stormfield Corporations now. That already sounds intimidating.” Elena placed her bag down behind the counter. “It is intimidating.” “That bad?” Elena sighed dramatically. “You have no idea.” Mrs. Waynes chuckled softly before handing her a bundle of lilies. “So? How are the people there?” “Busy.” “And the CEO?” Elena froze for half a second. Mrs. Waynes noticed instantly. “Oh?” Elena looked down at the flowers awkwardly. “He’s… terrifying.” That made Mrs. Waynes laugh properly this time. “Well, that’s expected.” “No, seriously,” Elena muttered quietly. “People literally stop breathing around him.” Mrs. Waynes shook her head in amusement. “And yet you survived your first week.” Barely, Elena thought silently. But instead, she smiled faintly. “I guess.” For the rest of the evening, Elena helped arrange bouquets while soft music played quietly inside the shop. For a little while, life felt normal again. --- Monday morning arrived too quickly. By now, Elena’s routine had become familiar. Wake up early. Prepare lunch. Take the bus. Work. Survive. When she arrived at Stormfield Corporations that morning, she expected another normal day. Instead, Gloria Anderson approached her desk almost immediately. “Miss Hart.” Elena stood up quickly. “Yes, ma’am?” “You’ve been reassigned.” Elena blinked. “…What?” “Temporary reassignment,” Gloria clarified calmly. “You’ll be assisting executive operations from today onward.” Elena frowned slightly. “Executive operations?” “The twenty-fifth floor.” The blood drained from Elena’s face instantly. The executive floor? Adrian Stormfield’s floor? Around her, several employees looked up immediately. Some looked shocked. Others looked jealous. One woman actually looked annoyed. Elena swallowed nervously. “Did I do something wrong?” Gloria’s expression didn’t change. “No. Apparently your reports impressed someone.” Someone. That answer somehow made Elena more nervous. Within twenty minutes, Elena found herself standing inside the elevator again with a small box containing her files and office supplies. The closer she got to the twenty-fifth floor, the tighter her chest felt. Ding. The elevator doors opened. The executive floor remained just as intimidating as she remembered. Cold. Luxurious. Silent. A secretary guided Elena toward a new desk near the large glass offices overlooking the city skyline. “Your workstation will be here,” the woman explained politely. Elena nodded quietly before placing her things down. And then— She felt it. That sharp awareness again. Slowly, Elena looked up. Across the floor, inside a massive glass office— Adrian Stormfield was watching her. Her heartbeat stumbled immediately. He stood near the window wearing a black suit, one hand inside his pocket while the other held several documents. Even from this distance, his presence felt overwhelming. Elena quickly lowered her eyes and began organizing her desk nervously. Inside his office, Adrian’s gaze remained fixed on her for several silent seconds. The cream blouse again. Simple black pants. Old shoes. No designer brands. No luxury accessories. Nothing about Elena Hart matched the polished world surrounding her. And yet somehow… She fit his attention too easily. Adrian looked away first. “Ethan.” Ethan Cole glanced up from his tablet immediately. “Yes, sir?” Adrian signed a document calmly before speaking. “She represents this floor now.” Ethan understood instantly. His expression remained perfectly neutral. “I’ll handle it.” Adrian said nothing else. But his cold eyes drifted briefly toward Elena one final time. --- By the time Elena returned home that evening, she was exhausted. The executive floor felt even more intense than the rest of the company. Employees there barely spoke unless necessary, and every movement felt carefully calculated. After changing into comfortable clothes, Elena was about to heat leftovers for dinner when the doorbell rang unexpectedly. Confused, she walked toward the door. Outside stood a delivery man holding several large luxury shopping bags. “Miss Elena Hart?” “Yes?” “Delivery from Stormfield Corporations.” Elena froze. “…What?” The man handed her the bags politely before leaving. Completely confused, Elena carried everything inside and placed them on the bed. Then slowly— She opened the first bag. Her eyes widened instantly. Inside were elegant office clothes. Beautiful dresses. Formal skirts. Blouses. Luxury heels. Designer handbags. Everything looked unbelievably expensive. Elena stared at the items in complete shock. At the very bottom of one bag rested a small black card. No message. No explanation. Only one silver symbol embossed at the center. Stormfield Corporations. And somehow… That felt even more intimidating.
