I Was Being Used

Hailey’s POV I slowly looked up at Tyler, stretching up the paper for him to see clearly, “What do you mean here?” I pointed at the statement. Even if he really wanted to leave me, what does the statement agreement on the paper mean? Lillian stepped forward, bending hypocritical in the way she talked. “Hailey, I really thought you were smarter than he told me about. "I mean, I expected you to be better than this.” Her eyes glared deep into mine. I couldn’t tell her next move, but she grabbed my hair suddenly, making me yelp in pain. “Fuck.” I groaned, trying to keep myself in check and get myself back. I expected Tyler to at least step in and stand up for me, but he was only staring at her with a mischievous expression. “It’s simple. This states you’ll be a substitute for me in prison. I was accused of embezzling company funds, which I did for your husband and soon-to-be ex-husband here. Luckily, it’s just an accusation, so you might escape.” She released me, pushing me disgustingly. “Why would you do this, Tyler? You are destroying yourself.” I wasn’t concerned about the charging or replacing her in court because I could easily get away with it and provide sufficient evidence that I wasn’t the one but Lillian. I stood up weakly, expecting a response from him, but he stood back and went to sit on the couch. He then leaned on his knees, using his hands for support. “Because I hate you.” The word, ‘I HATE YOU’ rang in my head and I staggered in shock. All this while, I was the only one being delusional by loving him. “I only saw you as a puppet in managing my family. I mean, you took up hard work, helped mom at the market and even became a full housewife for me, so why not?” “It helped me to concentrate more on the love of my life. Now that you know the truth, will you sign the document and get the f**k out of the Fernandro mansion before your stain stenches the house?’’ Lillian laughed at his words, but I was rather heartbroken. Just then the door opened, and my mother-in-law and sister-in-law came in. I thought I was finally saved by seeing them. They wouldn’t agree with him to divorce me no matter what. I helped my sister-in-law, Benita, to get into the most prestigious university and even give her a monthly allowance every month without missing even though she doesn’t ask me to. “You don’t have the right to do that. Will mom agree to it?” I spoke out as mom came over. She smiled, and I thought she was coming for me until she went over to Lillian, hugging her. Benita did the same, squealing all over her. “Oh my God, Sis Lillian had to be the beauty goddess of our family. I’m so happy having her as my sister-in-law.” My jaw dropped in shock with the flatter and the sweet interactions between all of them. It made me feel like the outsider of the family, or maybe I had been one but didn’t want to believe it. I shook my head, my eyes teary as I cried silently. “What the f**k do you all think you are doing?” I screamed, holding my head as everyone stopped dead in their tracks and faced me. “What’s she doing here brother?” That was Benita’s voice. Her voice was laced with disdain and irritation. Staring at her, I couldn’t believe this was the same lady I had sponsored, and she’ll be in her final year soon. My shock at everyone’s attitude was very unreal, and I was starting to have a headache because of whatever they were doing. “Who'd want their son to stay with an empty, useless, barren and filthy delivery woman?” My mother-in-law scoffed out in disdain. I was in disbelief at what she just said. “If this is a prank, then you had all better stop it right now, because this is real insanity.” I was tired of their acting. “You are the one being delusional here, Okay? My brother only loves Lillian and will never love someone as low as you.” “Brother, do you know, she was sleeping with older men just to get to the top university and even all the money she was giving me. Gross!” Hearing that from Benita made me more heartbroken. Was this the family I broke ties with my own people for? Were these the people I let go of my identity for? Was I blind in the first place or was it just being grateful? I’ve had enough of their tantrums, and now it was time for me to unleash the real devil in me. I crossed my arms, staring hard at Benita, who was showing her arrogance. She was annoying me so much. ‘THWACK.’ I didn’t expect the slap coming from me. I had no idea when I even moved my hand to slap her hard on her right cheek. Serves her right! “I gave you my money just for you to have a great life at the university. "I asked my brother to give you full-time free admission to the top university without you worrying about paying any dime, because I thought that assisting you meant assisting my husband.” She shifted back in fear as I walked towards her. “But you are framing me? Coming from you, it’s shocking because wow.” I laughed sarcastically. My eyes were red from anger. I face my mother-in-law, “I really think you should have your son checked. I’m not the one with the problem of not giving birth. It was him who refused to touch me. I fear he shouldn’t be impotent, right?’’ I knew he wouldn’t be impotent judging by how much intimacy was between Lillian and him, but I was using that to intimidate his mom, and it was fun. “Now back to you, the one million you are offering me to be a stand-in for a fraud like her is cheap. That 1million alone is just the money for the doormat of my house, and you think you are worthy of me?” I laughed. I picked up the divorce paper, signing it frantically. “You should really watch out these days, because that’s the only way to avoid you getting imprisoned.” “I don’t have any ties with your family anymore. Early morning tomorrow, we’ll get the divorce certificates.” With that said, I gently walked out of the mansion not picking up anything except for the purse I bought while coming from outside.
