Chapter 7: Not done yet

Alissa's POV
I wave a final goodbye to my parents as we drive off to who knows where.
"Where are we going?" I ask fiddling with the bracelet my dad gave me this morning.
"We need to find a place that's still connected to this universe or dimension. Somewhere they can't stop a portal from being opened. So we're leaving town." Eric explains his plan.
"Couldn't you find somewhere like that in town?" Julia pipes in.
"If you know somewhere we could check it out." He answers as we stop at a light.
It's so weird how she looks like a black haired version of me. I wanted ask if she dyed her hair but I know its not the time of place for it.
Time or place.
"That's it! I've got an idea!"
"We just need to find a place that he wouldn't think of blocking off! And in my dream when I was chasing her she took me to a lake and maybe, mabe it's a sign?" I try to explain.
"She's right. In that dream we were running through a forest and I was leading her to a lake and a bright almost blinding light wash shining in it."
"Lake Crescent! We can go to Lake Crescent and since it's a private lake he wouldn't have gone out of his way to deal it off." I explain to them.
"She right, make a U turn right now and take the next left." Celia instructs him and he obliges.
"So the both of your were having the same dream." Julia asks out if the blue.
I didn't even think about that.
"I guess so." I reply.
I guess we really are sisters then, we've been having the same dreams and it that's not proof I don't know what is.
"I know it's not the right time or place but I have to ask. Did you bleach your hair or something?" Alison asks suddenly.
"No, I've always been blonde. And while we're on the topic did you dye your hair black?" I just put it out there since she did.
"No why would I. " She asks with an offended look on her face.
"So if we're twins why do we have different?" We both as in unison, I look at Julia while she looks at Celia.
"You'll know when we get to the castle." They say at the same time rolling their eyes.
"Tun right here then go onto the trail. And drive faster." Julia commands Eric.
"Whatever, we'll get there in time." Eric grunts.
The car stays silent as we head up the trail that leads to Lake Crescent. I still can't believe we have to leave.
Somewhere in the back of my mind I still feel like this is just some big birthday prank and when it's all over this girl that looks like me is going laugh and say 'Haha! We got you!' Or 'I'm not really your sister, I'm just a look alike they hired.'
"I'm gonna miss burgers so f**king much." Celia starts to sniffle.
"Seriously, that's what your thinking about right now?" Alison asks.
"I'm gonna miss icecream." Julia pipes in and I stare at her in shock.
"Guys focus we're almost there." Eric says sternly, "Although I will miss pizza. A lot." He adds after a long pause and we all burst out laughing.
"So wait, none of those things exist there?" Alison asks when our laughter dies down.
"Some of them. And the ones that are there don't taste as good." Eric explains
"We're here." Julia say from the front seat. "Park in the woods so no one will find the car."
"Let's go." Julia instructs as we take the lead since we've been here before.
I check my phone and its after 8, I sigh pushing it back into my pocket. I'm taking it with me even though I know it might not work when we get there. But who knows.
As we reach the lake front, I can see the night sky reflecting on the river bed like a mirror image.
"Wow this place is amazing." Alison says as her eyes roam the water's surface.
"I'll get the spell started." Eric tell us walking into to water.
"Not so fast." An unfamiliar male voice says from in the shadows.
We turn around to see who it is but I can barely make out who it is. I step closer but stop in my tracks when I see the glint of a gun in the dark.
"Oh sh*t he's got a get." I curse.
"Alissa get behind me." Julia command me.
"Oh no guardian, I'm the one whose calling the shots here."
He comes a bit closer and I can finally make our him face, half of it has fresh burns and that's when it hits me.
It's the guy who killed Robert.
"You sick bastard you dead!" I growl at him.
"You, portal boy. Keep working on it or I shoot blondy." He threatens and Eric complies. "You see I left certain area in town unspelled because I knew you guys would take the quickest way out. And you fell right into my little plan."
I hear him chanting strange words and doing hand motions and I see the water starts to glow slowly and I start to panic.
"Hey take me okay. Let them go and take me." I say holding my hands above my and and slowly moving towards him. He points the gun at me and I suck in a sharp breath.
"No! He's not taking anyone!" Julia growls at me pulling me back.
"I'm sorry I can't let him hurt any of you." I plead with her.
"You can't go with him. " Celia says sternly, "I won't let you." We all look at her and Julia uses her distraction to slip a blade into my pants.
"Look I'm the one who burned his face, so if he's taking anyone it should be me. I'll go with you as long as you promise to let them go."
"Deal." He I see his teeth as smirks at us.
"How do I o you'll keep up your end of the deal?"
He holds up the gun over his head then fire a few shots into the air.
"There's one bullet left, so if you decide to cross me." He pauses dramatically, " I'll kill you." He finishes and I slowly walk over to him.
"Julia, promise me you won't attack him." I ask when I'm half way over to him.
But I get answer.
"Julia!" I yell.
"Fine! I promise." She yells back.
"Julia stop her!" Celia warns her.
"I can't."
When I'm a foot away from him I stop.
"I'm here so drop the gun." I ask.
"Not until the all go through the portal." He nods pointing the gun at my head.
"Guy go get in."
"I'm not leaving you." Alison shouts and it takes me ny suprise.
"The portal is ready." Eric says in a grim tone.
"Guys just go alright I'll be fine." I say trying to reassure them but a tear slips out.
"Aww, don't cry yet. I haven't given you anything to cry for yet."
"Please don't hurt me." I fake cry trying to catch him off guard.
"My master said I should capture you, he didn't say anything about not hurting me. Besides look at what you did to my face." He grits the last part out angrily.
"Hey portal boy once you go through close it." He commands pointing the gun to my head.
"Whatever." He scoffs
He turns and walks into the partal naf I take that as my que.
"What do you or your master want with me?" I ask trying to get his full attention.
"You'll know soon enough. Your friends should be dead in a few minutes and a new portal should be opening for us."
"What did you just say!" I shout at him.
"Like I said, I knew you were going to come here so I had assassin ready on the other side."
"You d**k!" I scream shoving him back aside then I run to the lake. "Guy come back!" I scream but they're long gone and I watch as the portal closes.
"I guess you were smart the save yourself." He laughs mockingly throwing his head back.
I walk back over to him crying then I slap him out of anger and it takes him by surprise. He looks at me with pure hate then shave me backwards and I fall on my ass.
This is it my only chance to avenge my friends, my sister, we didn't even have a proper conversation. I don't even know what's she's like.
"Get up now!" He grows pulling me up by my arm.
I use that as my chance to quickly take out the knife, I pull my arm from him then spin around suddenly and stop him in the chest. I look into his eyes and his face is frozen in shock.
He lifts his had with the gun to shoot me but I quickly kick it out of his hand and way.
"I'm... going......to ..... kill.....you." he barely groans out.
A portal opens up and I grab the knife and start to back away.
"Alissa it me let's go." Julia suprises me.
I run over to her and embrace her in a hug.
"How are you still alive?" I ask surprised.
"I should be asking you that, but theres no time let's go."
I let go of her and as I we were about to step into the portal I hear gun shot.
Then i suddenly feel a numbing pain in my left arm then we fall through the portal.
Instead of being cold the water becomes instantly warm and I see a bright light shining about the surface.
I try to swim up but it hurts when I try to move my arm.
The water starts to become red and I start to lose consciousness.
She pulls out of the water and o see everyone running to help her with me. My begins to burst with joy when I see that everyone is still alive.
"That mother f**ker shot her!" I barely hear Julia say before I slip away into the darkness.
I'll die happy knowing I saved them.
