Alissa's POV
After we accepted the head minister's offer, we had a small celebration in the castle. Zian and Zane stayed for the celebration but unfortunately their dad left.
I wanted ask him about our dad. He seemed to have been good friends with him and he's the only person I trust enough to tell me truth.
"Hey, you want to sleep in my room tonight?" Alison offers as we stand in front of our rooms.
"Sure." I says smiling at her.
We head into her room together and close the door behind us.
Her room was a mirror image of mine, the only difference was the color. She tried to get out of her dress on her own, while I sat on her bed and watched in amazement as she got out of it.
"If have to tell me how you do that." I beg her.
"I think it's best if you figure it out yourself." She let's a light laugh as she gets out of the petticoat.
I reach behind my back trying to follow what she did to get out of my dress but it wasn't working.
"I can't do it." I grunt and she laughs my feeble attempts.
"Here, let me help you." She offers with a smile, I stand still as she starts helping me out of the dress, the corset was next and last was the petticoat.
"I'd do anything for a regular hoodie or t-shirt right now." I mumble.
"I'd do anything to wear a normal bra." Alison adds.
"Tell me about it, this type of dressing is so uncomfortable."
"And out dated."
We start snickering at each other as she slips into the nightgown that was left on the bed for her.
Mine must be in my room.
"Don't worry, I'll get yours." She says with a wink as she leaves me in her room.
I use my hand to cover my self as I walk over windows. I gazed up at the moonless sky and I couldn't help but wonder what me parents were up, my other parents.
I can't believe they took me in knowing the risks. But I was lucky, their lives were spared but Alison's mom wasn't so lucky.
"Hey, what you thinking about?" Alison asks startling me a little.
She handed me the nightgown and I quickly slipped into it.
"I was just wondering what your parents were like?"
I was expecting her to be sad but a soft smile graced her features.
"I only had one-
"I'm sorry I asked." I quickly apologize, what is wrong with me bringing up her mom like that.
"Its okay, we can talk about her. I'd actually love to." She tells me as we walk over to the bed.
We sit down crossed legged, facing each other.
"She was beautiful, she had steely grey eyes and dark hair like mine. I used to think she was my real mom, until one day when I was twelve. She sent me for some important documents and I found the adoption papers. I didn't talk to her for days, until she agreed to tell me the truth."
"Which was?" I ask.
"She had a miscarriage." Alison says as tears pricked her eyes.
"You don't have to tell me if you don't want to." I say moving to her side to comfort her.
"Its okay I swear." She says swiftly wiping her tears before continuing, " She said the night she was discharged, she was in the hospital parking lot crying. Then someone knocked on her window they seemed to be in a hurry. So she wiped her tears then opened her door and there I was. Rapped up in an blanket with a note. It said to name me Alison."
"Wow. I had not idea." Is all I could say, "That explains why you took things so easily."
"Yeah, I figured it was harder for you. Since you didn't know you were adopted and all."
"Your mom's a great woman." I say hugging her.
"Thank you, I think she would have loved to meet you." She sniffed a bit as she spoke.
"Let's look for her, when all of this is over." I suggest.
"What?" She aks.
"If she's dead, we could find her grave and if she's alive we can go looking for her." I suggest.
"You think she might still be alive?"
"I hope so."
"But one of us would have to become queen when all of this is over." She reminds me.
"A queen can whatever she want." I tell her mischievously. "Or we could just sneak off before we got Crowned."
"You promise?" Alison asks narrowing her eyes into slits.
"Pinky swear." I hold out my pinky for to and she surprised me when she locked hers onto mine.
We start giggling at our own antics and before we knew it we started I tickle fight which turned into a pillow fight.
Our loud laughter filled the room like music.
" I give up you win!" I shout as Alison hit me repeatedly with her pillow. Mine somehow slipped out of mine hand and now I was fighting a losing battle.
I lay on the carpet trying to catch my breath and she plopped down on the bed. Soon our laughter subsided and the only sound I heard was my harsh breathing and my own heartbeat.
After catching my breath I went on the bed and laid next to her. We stayed silent for a long while until I decided to speak.
"Alison."
"Yeah?"
"What are you planning to do with Melrose?"
"I honestly don't know." She answers with a sigh.
"Let's decide tomorrow, for now let get some rest."
"Okay. Ali." I mumble as I drift off to sleep.
I've always wanted a sister and Julia was the closest thing I had to one. And now I have you. I say as sleep takes over me, I'm not sure if i said it out loud or in my head.
But I bet she head it either way.
