LYRA *The Night Before* I couldn't sleep. I tried. I spent hours in bed, trying to quiet my thoughts while listening to Willow breathe from across the room, but It didn't work. Every time I closed my eyes, I saw them. My parents. The fire. Thorne's blood on my hands. The memories had been back for two weeks now, but they hadn't gotten easier. If anything, they'd become more vivid and painful. I sat up slowly, careful not to wake Willow, and padded across the cold floor to the window. The packhouse grounds were quiet and peaceful under the moonlight. It felt wrong to me. How could anything be peaceful when my entire world had been ripped apart?
