39  Before Lysander could make up excuses to ward off her questions and not hurt in her doing so, shouts from the woods captured their attention. Joshua was waving his hands in the house’s direction as if beckoning them to come back. Avery’s heart squeezed in fear. Was everything alright? Had it all been the calm before the storm?  They’d left their phones back home because mind-links came handy in emergency situations and they did not want to be disturbed at all.
