26 It dawned on Avery that she had been conversing with the enemy for a few hours now, having totally forgot the history they shared. Was it time for playing “overyjoyed new parents” over? Yes, it had to be over...because she hadn’t forgiven him. Not yet. He deserved his time-out, he needed to be away from her some more to realise that he needed to change for the better. He couldn’t be a father to their child if he was trying to his kid’s mom with every opportunity that presented itself. It simply wasn’t done. She untangled herself from him and he let her retreat with utmost reluctance. He wanted to jerk her back into his arms until there wasn’t a hair’s space between their bodies, he wanted them to be one entity. With him lost in her like an alcoholic downing his last sip of alcohol.
