Sindy The last thing I wanted was to walk beside him. But there I was, following Lorenzo down the long corridor, my heart hammering so loud I thought it would echo off the wooden walls of the lodge. His stride was confident, every step radiating authority, and I hated how steady he looked while I felt like I was walking into battle with nothing but my bare hands.
