He couldn’t let that happen, so he was going to have to go on half a plan. Hours had gone by since the last person had come into the room. It must have been night by now, having spent all day here. They hadn’t given him any food, water, or let him use the bathroom, not that he needed any of that. They were probably trying to starve him out, see if he would break once he got uncomfortable. The thought almost made him laugh. It must have been another few hours later when Detective Lemaire came back with an artificially apologetic look on his face. Did he seriously think Zaid would believe this charade? “Sorry about the long wait,” he said, sitting down.
