BREAKING POINTS

215 Words
As months passed, things worsened. Samuel started failing courses. He missed continuous assessments. He stood on the edge of probation. He didn’t tell Alice. He didn’t want to add to her pain. Alice started doubting everything. She felt alone, abandoned, ashamed of what her life had become. She sometimes told him she regretted everything. Not because she didn’t love him— but because life had become unbearable. Samuel broke down several times. But he hid his tears from everyone. He didn’t want his parents to know. He didn’t want the world to know. He didn’t want to admit that he was losing himself. He loved Alice. But he hated the version of himself he had become. ⸻ One evening, after days of silence, Alice finally said the words Samuel feared: “Samuel… I don’t think I can do this anymore.” His heart almost stopped. She wasn’t talking about the pregnancy. She was talking about them. She said she needed emotional peace. She couldn’t keep waiting for attention. She couldn’t keep feeling abandoned. Samuel couldn’t breathe. He begged. He apologized. He broke down. But she was hurting too deeply. And for the first time in months, Samuel realized… Love alone is not enough. Distance breaks things. Pressure kills things. Reality destroys dreams. Things fell apart.
