CHAPTER EIGHTEEN

1944 Words
CALHOUN "What's the doctor saying about her now?" I ask Joshua, my right-hand man, without looking up from the stack of documents spread across my desk. "We do not know for a fact yet, sir, but right now things aren't looking good," he replies. I sigh and lean back in my chair. "Alright. Start preparing everything and inform her father about the impending doom." Joshua hesitates for a second before nodding. "Okay, sir." He turns to leave. "Send Jane in on your way out." "Yes, sir." The door closes behind him, leaving me alone with the silence. My attention returns to the documents in front of me. There is too much work waiting to be done. Too much responsibility. Too much pressure. Nearly a week has passed, and we have made absolutely no progress regarding who poisoned Valerie. Every suspect we investigate turns out innocent. Every lead ends in a dead end. At this point, the private investigators are working around the clock, yet we have nothing to show for it. Nothing. The entire situation is becoming frustrating. I hear a knock. Knowing exactly who it is, I don't bother lifting my head. "Come in." The door opens. "Sir, you sent for me?" Jane's voice fills the office. For the first time in hours, my attention drifts away from work. Instead of planning a wedding, it seems I might be planning the burial of my mate which is a disappointing outcome not because there is love between us, there isn't but because failure irritates me. "Go into the room and strip then get on all fours." "Okay, sir." I hear the excitement in her voice. The adjoining room serves many purposes and right now, it serves as a distraction something to clear my mind, silence the constant noise in my head. Images flash through my mind, and I feel tension building inside me, I continue working through documents and emails, deliberately making her wait and an hour passes, then another twenty minutes. Only after finishing several contracts do I loosen my tie and stand, the muscles in my neck ache, my shoulders are stiff, I roll them once before walking into the adjoining room. Jane is exactly where I left her. Waiting obediently I head to the bathroom and soak a cloth with water before returning. "Sir, you took your time," she says playfully. “Shut the f**k up and face the wall, ass in the air” I say walking towards the bed Immediately, she obeys, I move closer, the scent of anticipation hangs in the room and my wolf is licking it paws right now The distraction helps. The constant thoughts of investigations, poison reports, and failed leads begin fading into the background. Before she settles into position again, I clamp both her hands together and pull her to me, her back on my chest then I lower my head to whisper in her ear “You know what might happen tonight right” I say grabbing her t**s and pulling at the n*****s as hard as I can “Yes Sir, do with me as you please” she says in between a loud moan Good I pick up the cloth and wrap it around her eyes blindfolding her “Now lower your self and ass in the air” I say stripping down till my d**k jumps out of my pants Gripping myself and sliding my hand up and down, I gather precum at the tip I slather it on the head of my d**k, dip my fingers into her p***y wall and checking to see that it is as wet as I want, I drive my d**k in as deep as I can Which is really deep because just half way in and she lets out a loud cry “It is too early to cry” I say lowering myself on her then sliding my hand to grip her n****e so hard, my other hand on her c**t rubbing it in circle “Sir please deeper!” She screams out This time I don't wait to get her wetter, I drive in all my nine inches d**k and she convulses immediately cumming so hard that I am sure I heard a growl I haven't even started I start digging my d**k in and out of her cunt, her cunt gripping so tightly that I'm enjoying it too much This is why I like having her close by, a wet hole to keep my head straight “Sir please” she says crying At this point, I perceive the scent of tears which excites my wolf and I keep digging in roughly Deeper and deeper, gripping the bed as tightly as I can, chasing that end I see so close Her cunt wall pulses and grips me more tightly and i know she is about to cum “Don't c*m until I tell you to” I say on a growl “Please sir” she screams sobbing I know she is close so I keep going and going, pushing in and out, rubbing on her c**t, hoping she defiles my order, Then finally, I feel it in my brain and c*m so hard and fast that I let out a growl Breathing fast, I pull out the moment I calm down, then I grab the wet cloth to clean my d**k, drop it on her ass, then get dressed, walking out of the room without saying a word Business always comes first. The moment I sit down, my phone vibrates. Joshua so I answer immediately. "Speak." "Sir, the doctor says we should come say our final goodbyes." I close my eyes briefly. "There won't be any need for that." A few seconds of silence follow. "Have you alerted her father?" "Yes, sir." "Good." I pick up a pen and begin signing another document. "Handle the burial preparations and call me only if you need me." "Okay, sir." The call ends. I place the phone on the desk and continue working, death is inevitable everyone knows that, Valerie simply seems to have reached her end sooner than expected. A pity. She did not last long enough, I would have liked to know more about her, she was meant to breed my heir so it is such a pity before fate took her away but life moves on. It always does, the office door opens and closes sometime later, probably Jane leaving but I don't bother looking up. My attention remains on work, notification appears on my monitor. Skype Meeting - Governor Richard Hale Right on schedule, I straighten in my chair and click Accept. The screen flickers before the governor appears and behind him is a large office overlooking the city. "Calhoun," he says with a smile. "Governor." "I trust business is treating you well?" "It is surviving." He chuckles. "That's your version of optimism, I suppose." I don't answer, the governor already knows how I operate as results matter, everything else is unnecessary conversation. "Let's get straight to business," I say. His smile widens. "That's exactly why I like working with you." He opens a file on his desk. "The Crag expansion project." Now he has my full attention, Crag has dominated local markets for years and the next step has always been international expansion, bigger markets and profits. "Where do we stand?" I ask. The governor adjusts his glasses. "The preliminary reports are promising and several foreign investors have shown interest." "Interest means nothing." "True." "I need commitments." The governor nods. "I expected that answer." He slides a document across his desk, though I can only see it through the camera. "The investment package has been approved." That catches my attention. "Approved?" "Approved." "Officially?" "Officially." For the first time during the meeting, I allow myself a small smile. "How much?" The governor names a figure and even by my standards, it is substantial enough to accelerate expansion by years and establish Crag internationally much sooner than projected. "That's a serious commitment." "It is." "What changed?" The governor leans back. "You delivered on every promise you made to this state." I remain silent so he continues. "You created jobs." "You brought in investors, generated revenue." He folds his hands together. "The administration believes investing in Crag is investing in the future." I nod slowly and that is the answer I expected, business is simple and people support success. "Which markets are we targeting first?" I ask. "Europe and parts of Asia." "Good." "They offer the strongest opportunities right now." I swivel my chair toward the window and rain clouds are gathering outside, dark and unsettling "Shipping routes?" I ask. "Already being negotiated." "Distribution?" "In progress." "Regulations?" "Our legal teams are handling them." The governor smiles again. "Everything is moving exactly as planned." "Then I want weekly updates." "You'll have them." "I also want confirmation in writing regarding the state's investment." "You'll receive it before morning." "Good." The governor glances at something off-screen then he looks back at me. "Calhoun." "Governor." "I mean this sincerely." I raise an eyebrow. "You've built something impressive." Praise has never interested me, results do, still, I acknowledge it with a nod. "Thank you." "The international market won't know what hit it." "It will." The governor laughs. "There he is." I close the document in front of me. "Anything else?" "Nothing important." "Then I have work to do." "Of course." He pauses briefly. "Congratulations, Calhoun." "Thank you, Governor." The call ends and the screen goes dark, I spend the next several hours reviewing contracts, signing approvals, and organizing expansion plans. If the investment comes through exactly as promised, Crag's growth will become unstoppable and the opportunity is too valuable to waste. Time slips away. Outside, evening turns into night, then night deepens further and the office becomes quiet, most employees have gone home and only security personnel remain. By the time I finish the final report, it is close to midnight, I stretch my arms and stand, exhaustion settles into my muscles, the day ahead will be even busier. There are meetings and apparently a funeral, I gather several files into my briefcase and my phone vibrates, a text message, I glance at the screen. She is gone, sir. For a moment, I simply stare at the message then I type a response. Okay. Nothing more needs to be said, I slide the phone back into my pocket, death changes nothing as business continues and life continues. Picking up my briefcase, I head toward the door and the moment I open it, a violent crack of thunder explodes across the sky, I freeze. The sound is unlike anything I have ever heard, lightning tears across the darkness, splitting the sky in two. The entire building trembles and the foundation itself seems to shake. Instinctively, I grip the door handle to steady myself, a strange feeling crawls beneath my skin, my wolf stirs, alert and restless. Another flash of lightning illuminates the horizon and the night appears as bright as day then darkness swallows everything again, the air feels different all charged. I narrow my eyes. What could possibly trigger a reaction like this? The question barely forms in my mind before I hear hurried footsteps then I look up. Joshua is sprinting toward me, his breathing is heavy, his expression is one of complete disbelief. "Sir!" I straighten immediately. "What is it?" He stops several feet away, he struggles to find his voice then the words finally leave his mouth. "Sir..." His eyes widen. "She opened her eyes." My grip tightens on the briefcase, Joshua swallows hard then he says the impossible. "She lives."
