JELENA I finish my meal in relative silence, only contributing the occasional polite response whenever someone addresses me and the rest of lunch passes without incident, and for that, I am grateful. The moment the meal ends, I excuse myself and begin the walk back to my quarters. The corridors are just as immaculate as always, servants step aside the moment they see me approaching, lowering their heads respectfully before continuing with their duties once I pass. The entire mansion runs with military precision, leaving little room for mistakes. As I reach my bedroom door, my hand hovers over the handle then I stop, a wave of frustration crashes into me, I can't keep doing this, can't spend every day trapped within these walls, pretending to be content while everyone else has a purpose
