So I had all day to spend at the local beach with Finn. That was what I planned on doing. I really wanted to get to know him more. I was enjoying my time with him. Each day. Being around Finn made me not want to go back home to that mess back home that my parents had created. I was loving my new life here. I had pretty much made up my mind to live here with Grandma. I was going to go apartment hunting once I was working full time at the aquarium. Right now I was enjoying living with Grandma. Even if she was a bit kooky. • ❤︎ •• ❤︎ • "Heading out for a swim?" Grandma wants to know as I finish up my breakfast. "Sure am. Going to practice what they taught me over at the YMCA" I explain to her as I drink the rest of my juice. "I am sure Finn will be proud of you" Grandma mentions as she winks at me. "I am not just doing this for Finn you know" I scoff. "Sure, sure!" Grandma laughs as she reads over the daily ads in the newspaper. "I am not" I tell her feeling defensive. "Nothing is wring with wanting to impress someone you like" Grandma replies as she flips to the next page of her paper. "First of all Gram, I am just friends with Finn. I am not setting out to impress him. I do want to learn to swim. You know I have been wanting to learn how to swim now. For a very long time now" I remind her sternly. "Sure, sure. Have fun out there. Be safe. Tell Finn, that I said hello" Grandma says as she winks at me before going back to reading her paper. I go to get my shoes on. Rigsby follows me to the door. "No, boy. Sorry not this time. Maybe later I will take you for a walk okay?" I offer him another time. I could not swim and walk a dog at the same time. Rigsby looks disappointed in me. "Come here boy! Here boy! I have a treat for you!" Grandma calls out to him. His ears perk up as he rushes over to her. "Thanks Gram. See you later" I tell her. I head out to the beach now that Rigsby was not trying to get out at the front door there. I head down to the beach, my heart races at the thought of spotting Finn again. Would he be hanging around in hopes he might see me to? I kind of hoped he was. But I was not counting on it. I get down to the ocean. I bend down and take off my flip flops. Set my towel down beside them. I stretch my arms and legs. Though it was silly. I was not sure why. Just to brace myself I guess. To swim. Would swimming ever be enjoyable for me? Or was a doomed to hate it forever? • ❤︎ •• ❤︎ • "Hey there!" I hear him call out to me. FINN. "Hi ya" I call back as I wave to him. He grins at me. He is as close as he can to me in the shallow end of the water. "Coming to join me for a swim?" he asks me cheerfully. "Sure did" I say with a grin. I rush into the water. The chilly water hits my skin sending goosebumps up and down my arms. "Brr!" I gasp. "Chilly for you? I never notice it" he chuckles as I shiver a little. "Well it can be for us humans when we have been in the sun all day" I tell him. He nods. Soon I am out wading in the water nearly over my head now with Finn. Way past my comfort zone here. "Want to see a little of what I learned in my swimming lesson?" I ask Finn. "Sure why not" he says with a smile. Here goes nothing. I could do this. Really. I take a deep breath in. Sucking as much air as I could muster inside of me. Then I duck down under the waves. There this was not so bad. Though the pool water was a lot clearer then the ocean waters. I open my eyes under water a bit to swim toward Finn a little then I see him under the water too. Smiling at me. He gives me the thumbs up sign under water nearly making me giggle. We head back up to the surface. • ❤︎ •• ❤︎ • "Not bad!" he tells me with a grin. "Before you could not get me under water that was higher than my head. I was too afraid" I explain. "Everyone has a fear of something. It is good to see you are trying to conquer that fear" he tells me looking proud. I grin. "I really am. I have my next lesson next week" I tell him. "Good for you. Want to work on swimming today with me?" he offers his help again. "I am swimming some right now" I laugh nervously. "Do you trust me?" he asks me in a serious tone. "Trust you sure I do" I reply. We were both getting to know each other. But there was never a reason for me not to trust Finn. He never gave me a reason not to trust him. Nor I had given him a reason not to trust me either. • ❤︎ •• ❤︎ • "How long can you hold your breath under water do you think?" he wonders. "Um, not sure. I have just started to learn" I laugh. What was going on? "There is a place I want to show you. Not too far from here. I have NEVER shown this to any human before. But for some reason I trust you. I know I can trust you" he explains to me in a kind voice. "You can trust me" I promise him. He nods. "Grab hold of my neck from the back here. I will swim you out. I promise I will not let any harm come to you okay? So do not become afraid" he explains. "Alright" I agree. I do as he says. I wrap my arms around his neck from the back. Then we are off. He swims so fast. I feel I am swimming along with him. It was rather amazing at the speed we were going. It was not human speed of swimming that was for certain. Waves splashed us as he swam. My skin could feel the warmth of his being so close to him at the moment. Being so much further out in the ocean was amazing to see. "Alright take a deep breath. Hold your breath. It will not be for too long" he promises me. I nod. I gulp in a deep breath. "Hang on tight" he tells me before we go under the water. I can see loads of tropical fish swim about us under the water. I hold my breath under the water as Finn swims us to where ever it was we were going. I see it suddenly. A large rock under the water. There was some kind of old pirate ship wreck under by the rock to. He swims through the old ship. I spot a human skull of what might have been a pirate. We swim past some adorable sea horses to. I was amazed at what I could see in such a short amount of time under the water here. Soon Finn brings us back up to the surface. I gasp taking in all the air I could. • ❤︎ •• ❤︎ • "You okay?" he worries over me. "Yes" I gasp as I pull my wet hair back out of my eyes as I hang on to Finn. I look around us. We were in some kind of little sea cove. It was magical. "Finn this is amazing. Thank you for taking me here" I mention as I gaze about the place. "Long ago, pirates had found us. They were trying to take over my sea and my people. A large storm came rolling in thankfully. And stopped them from taking over. You saw that ship wreck back there. My own Father had been in that battle long ago. Another reason why he never will trust humans" worries Finn. "Wow, so much history all around us" I say as I look around me. Finn swims me over to a rock. He helps me sit on the rock. I can see the ocean from miles around over the rock. It was beautiful. "This is my home. I stay here" Finn explains to me. "Don't you miss your family?" I wonder. "Not really. They have my future all planned out for me. What they expect and want me to do" he grumbles. I could relate. With my Dad wanting me back home. And wanting me to attend college. "I understand that. I do not want to go home to my family. I want to stay here" I explain to Finn. He smiles. "I would like it if you stayed here to" he replies with a smile. My heart about melts at the sight of that kind smile. I never knew anyone like Finn. We were worlds apart. Yet we could be so much alike. I felt a connection to Finn already in the short time I knew him. • ❤︎ •• ❤︎ • "I plan on staying here" I say softly. He reaches out and brushes my hair back out of my eyes. He smiles. "Good" he says softly making my heart pound faster. I nearly forgot the time being there with Finn. I had to get back to go to my new job soon! I did not want to leave Finn. I shivered a little. I was a little cold. "You are cold" Finn worries over me. "A little. I will be okay" I say with a smile. "We better get you back. Your Grandma will worry about you. We can always come back here. If you would like to" he offers. "Yes, I would like that. I am enjoying getting to know you" I say to Finn softly. "I am enjoying getting to know you to" he says as he stares up at me. He has the best smile across his handsome face. That makes me not able to stop smiling. That smile of his. "Come jump down. I will catch you" he tells me. I nod. I scoot carefully to the edge of the rock. Then hop in the waters. Finn catches me in his arms. My arms wrap around his neck. This time we are face to face. His pretty blue eyes stare right into mine. We do not say a word. My heart begins to beat faster being so close to Finn like this. A smile creeps over my face as he smiles at me. I did not want this moment to end yet. He leans in closer to me. He was going to kiss me. I wanted him to. His lips soon draw closer to my own. They are pressing upon my lips. My heart begins to dance with butterflies about inside as he kisses me. My lips return each tender kiss he gives me. I hear nothing but the waves and the beating of my own heart in my ears as he continues to kiss me. "Something has begun here. I can't wait to find out what that is" I hear Finn whisper softly to me after the bittersweet kiss as he brushes his hand along the side of my cheek. "I better get you back. Let's go" he tells me softly. As we head back home, I knew I was already looking forward to the next time I was going to see him again. "Will I see you tomorrow?" Finn asks me hopefully once we get back to shore. "Yes, I would like that very much" I tell Finn. He smiles. "See you then, I will be waiting for you" Finn replies before he heads back in the ocean. My lips still tingle from his kisses. My mind aches for more. Something had begun. A summer love. ♥☆♥☆♥☆♥☆♥☆♥☆♥☆♥☆♥☆♥☆♥☆
