Chapter 18

"Finn is that really YOU?" I gasp as I gawk at him.

He grins as he nods his head yes. He rushes over to me. He pulls me in his arms. Suddenly he kisses me without warning. My heart dances inside as his lips crash to mine in a tender loving kiss.

"Sydney, you can't leave me all alone" he begs of me softly as his hand cups the side of my face. He looks at me with love in his eyes.

"You're human! How did this happen? When?" I ask him.

"When a merman or mermaid is in love really truly in love with a human. And the human returns that love in return, a spell is cast so they can be together. I grew legs today. Right around the time you were leaving here. The spell knew I was going to lose my one true love Sydney. This love is pure enough. True enough for us. Enough to change me. So that I may be with you" he explains. Tears come to me. Tears of joy.

"Finn, I am at a loss for words" I say softly. He smiles as he leans in and kisses me again.

"At first I was hurting inside. That you did not love me in return. But the moment Crystal returned the clip, the spell showed you loved me. This spell was created back when a mermaid fell in love with a sailor. They had died alone. Separated in life. When you returned the clip that showed a selfless act. And rescuing me to showed you cared about us all. You could have died saving me Syd! Do you have any idea how much you scared me back there? I was worried you were going too drowned. Right in front of me" he explains with worry in his eyes.

"I had to save you. I was not going to let harm come to you or to Crystal" I point out.

"I knew then you loved me, as I loved you. I never got the chance to tell you how I felt inside" Finn says it out loud. My heart soars. He loved me. Like really loved me as I loved him.

"Oh Finn, I love you to. You saved my life once. Of course I was going to save you" I remind him.

He grins as he hears me say I love you. He kisses me again. My head was spinning with excitement that we could be together.

"Excuse me miss but we are going to board now. You need to get on the flight" the flight attendant tells me suddenly.

"You're not really going home now are you? Not when we found each other?" begs Finn. He looks scared I will leave him.

"No, I am not leaving. I am going to need a refund on my ticket" I tell the lady. Finn grins at me with joy on his face.

"What about your Father's wedding?" worries Finn.

"I really did not want to go to it. I was leaving here because I was trying to get over losing you" I admit.

"Sydney you never lost me" he reminds me. He holds me closer to him. He kisses me.

"How did you manage to find your way here?" I laugh suddenly realizing he was out in public on his own.

"Hey guys!" Charlotte says waving at me. I grin as I wave at her. "Is she staying Finn?" Charlotte asks as she comes over to us.

"She is" Finn says joyfully.

"You know he makes a really good looking human" Charlotte teases me. I blush.

"He sure does" I agree with her. Finn smiles.

"We have a lot to celebrate tonight" I tell them both.

"Sure do! My new bestie is staying!" Charlotte says as she hugs all of us.

"I have to get my refund on this ticket. Then we need to get food. I am starving" I tell the others.

"Where is Finn going to live?" worries Charlotte.

"He is going to stay with Gram and I" I decide. He looks pleased.

"What do mermen eat anyway?" giggles Charlotte.

"Seaweed?" I had no clue.

We go to walk off. Poor Finn stumbles on his feet a little bit. I hold him up. Charlotte helps him on the other side. "Looks like we have to help this guy walk" I giggle. Finn blushes.

"I may be a tad rusty at this" Finn chuckles.

"Oh Gram! I need to call her to let her know I am staying! Let me call her" I tell them. They nod. I get my cell phone out.

"Sugar is your plane delayed? You should be on your flight by now" Grandma answers me.

"Oh I am not leaving! I changed my mind" I tell her with joy. Finn grins at me.

"Why is that?" Grandma asks me.

"Finn is here!" I tell her happily. "He stopped me from leaving. Tell Grandma Hello" I tell Finn.

"Hey there!" Finn tells her.

"Finn! They will all see you there! We need to get him back to the ocean! He will die without water!" Grandma worries over Finn.

"Gram it is okay! Finn turned human" I tell her.

"What did you say?" Grandma asks me.

"Finn turned human. We are able to be together!" I exclaim with joy.

"Well, well, the true love spell" Grandma Whistles.

"You knew about that to?" I ask her.

"Sure did" she tells me.

"Can Finn live with us? He has no place to go" I beg her.

"He sure can sugar. I love Finn as if he was my own grandson" she reminds me.

"See you soon Gram. We are going to get some dinner. Want us to bring you back something?" I offer.

"No I am good. Have a good time sugar. Bye" Grandma says as she hangs up.

"Let's go celebrate guys" I say with a grin. Finn kisses my cheek.

"Wait a moment. You have to take this back" he demands to me. He places the clip back into my hair. He looks pleased. "Now it is right back where it should be"

"You guys make the cutest couple ever" Charlotte tells us. We head off to her car. After I get my refund for the ticket. I text my Mom and tell her I was not able to make it to the wedding. I had my luggage. Charlotte helps me get my luggage in her car. Then we head off.

"Well what do we want to eat?" Charlotte asks us.

"Anything but seafood. I have a feeling that is not a good idea" I whisper over to Charlotte. Finn smiles at me.

"Okay sure, Mexican?" offers Charlotte.

"Sure" I agree.

"I am not really hungry yet, still getting used to these human legs and feelings" laughs Finn.

I hold his hand in mine.

"You will get used to them. What is different about human feelings compared to merfolk feelings?" I ask.

"We could tend to read feelings or thoughts to someone we were close to. Now I cannot read your thoughts at all" he chuckles making me blush.

"What thoughts of mine did you read?" I laugh.

"Well back when I gave you the clip I knew you were attracted to me as I was to you" he explains. I smile at that.

"You did?" I say. He nods.

"Yes, I could tell you were falling in love with me. The more I got to know you, I could not help but fall in love with you" he admits.

"You guys are too cute" laughs Charlotte. We soon stop by to eat.

Charlotte explains how she had Finn find her. He had been looking for me at Gram's. She had stopped to say good-bye to me. But I had left. Then she drove Finn to the airport.

She had to get him some clothing first. He had a bit of nothing on when she saw him. We all had a good laugh catching up on things. After dinner Charlotte brought us back to Grams. I helped Finn walk into the home.

"Welcome home Finn. I am happy my granddaughter has a love she can count on" Gram tells Finn and I when we get there. She hugs us. "You can share the room with Sydney. I know I can trust you two. You are grown adults" Gram chuckles.

"I need to get poor Finn more clothing. Or by winter he will freeze" I worry.

"We will get Finn all set up dear" Gram promises me. She hugs Finn then myself. I lead Finn to the bedroom for the night.

"So what is this place?" Finn asks me as he looks around the bedroom.

I forgot all of these things were new to him. He was used to being in the sea.

"Come here. This is the bedroom. Where we sleep. Did you sleep?" I wonder.

"Yes we sleep, but normally on a rock or where ever we might be" he tells me.

"Yuck" I shudder. I lead him to the bed. "Try this! It is so soft" I tell him. He nods as he climbs on the bed with me. He leans back on the bed.

"This is nice" he agrees. "I could get used to this" I smile as I snuggle up to him. I am laying on his chest looking down into his eyes.

"We are meant to be then?" I giggle softly.

"You are meant for me. I am meant for you, yes" he reminds me in a serious voice. He gazes into my eyes with joy in them.

"I can live with that" I say softly. I lean down and kiss him. "I love you Finn. With all my heart"

"I love you to Sydney. Our adventure is just getting started" he reminds me before pulling me closer to him as he kisses me.
