Victoria's POV
Ok. So I was wrong. Very wrong.
Our lives did not return to the way it was before my father's death. Not at all. It's been 6 years since that day.
Now I'm a 23-year-old business woman but I'm still an outcast. What I did manage was to turn my smartness into a business that I'm proud of. I help people with their problems. I still tutor high school students, but the difference is now I charge them for my help. Every business in our town depends on my help to keep their books taken care of.
And as for my mom?
Remember that sexy boss of hers? Well, she is actually getting married to him today.
I'm really happy for them, because they both needed a fresh start and someone to lean on. And I could not argue, they make each other happy and Ron treats my mother the way she deserves. On top of that, he never treated me differently or saw me as an outcast. He accepted me fully and with kindness.
Today is also the day i will finally meet his son.
He is supposed to come live with us, since his mother does not want him around anymore. So until he gets a job and gets back on his feet, he will be staying in our house.
I guess it will be fun to have someone else around since mom and Ron are always busy with running their company these days.
I'm not that busy because I like to stay ahead of things, so at the moment everything is taken care of for at least 3 more weeks before I have to bury my nose in books again for a few hours.
So today I'm enjoying my mother's wedding and drinking expensive champagne.
"Hey Vicky. Have you seen Craig anywhere yet?"
I smiled at Ron warmly and returned his one-sided hug.
"Since I have no idea what your son looks like, I can't answer that question with any accuracy, you know? "
His laugh is warm and kind and always puts me at ease.
"Offcourse dear. I almost forgot you never met my devil of a son." Suddenly his face sobered.
" I just hope he will treat you right and not cause any problems for you."
Ron is much more perceptive than my mom and he soon realized I was a loner, ever since my bestie left our town. So there's no surprise that he worries.
But I'm not worried. I am used to being left alone by now. It's been 6 years after all.
"Don't worry Ron. Things will work out fine. If you keep stressing about me you won't be able to enjoy your honeymoon", I teased him.
His warm eyes get a mischievous glint in them when he speaks.
"Perhaps my boy can manage to sweep you off your feet even. You never know."
I laugh at that because just the thought of it is absurd.
"That would be highly inappropriate, don't you think? He's my step-brother after all, since you married my mom. But either way, I think I'm getting too old to be swept off my feet."
At that he winked at me and wispered in my ear, " Never say never darling".
With that, he spun me around and exclaimed "Ah there he is finally!"
I looked up just in time to see a gorgeous man walking toward us. He was huge. At my 170cm that says a lot. He was at least 190cm tall and with nice muscles to pair with his height. Black hair that was cut short at the sides but left longer on top, and blue eyes that felt like they could see right through my body and into my soul.
I wasn't ugly by any means, but I wasn't picture perfect as the man that was walking in our direction. I was told I was too tall for a woman, my cleavage was acceptable, my ass was a bit too big, I had red-dyed hair that was always in a messy bun, but if left undone it fell almost to the end of my back. Green eyes and full lips packed together a so-so pack.
When I finished with my oggling of his body, I returned my eyes to his face to find him wearing a huge smile on his face and showcasing 2 gorgeous dimples. I was left speechless looking at him. Finally, he stopped directly in front of us and extended his hand, his smile still in its place.
"You must be the famous gorgeous Vicktoria my father always drones about. All good to be clear. I'm Craig." He left his speech with a wink.
I was still struck by looking at him. But finally, I shook myself from shock and shook his hand.
"That would be me, yes. Hope you really did hear only good about me. I'd hate to see you running before I even manage to scare you away properly."
His laughter made me blush. It was deep and so full of emotions and just...Genuine, which was rare in these days.
"I can see we will get along just fine, dear Vicky. Now, if you will excuse me, I need to welcome my father's new wife appropriately."
He excused himself and before he walked away threw a wink my way.
i was left standing like a statue gaping after him with my mouth wide open.
I couldn't help but feel like I had just made a packt with the devil.
A packt that would be pretty on the eyes but would hurt my soul in the end.
