It's been five months already since Diana Washington took her own life to escape the unbearable shame her family gave birth to. The Washington was indeed a heartless wealthy family who took nothing into consideration expect their own benefits. The Washington sighed a sigh of relief for the death of Diana. They felt relieved for they have exiled the bondage she held them captive to. Ares, husband to Diana turned into a drunkard for the untimely death of his beloved wife.
After the wedding between Ares and Diana, he travelled to California to further his education in medicine. So he left his newly wedded wife in the care of his horrible and abusive family. Diana on the other hand felt it would be ridiculous to tell her husband of the ill-treatment she had been subjected to in her new home. " How I'm supposed to tell my husband that his family members are evil and cruel. Will he even believe me? 'were some of the thoughts that runs through her mind whenever she takes her phone to inform her husband'. So basically their marriage was on phone calls.
The death of his wife sadden his heart. He grieved for the only woman he has ever loved and given his heart to. He sunk himself in alcohol the day the news was broken to him. The following day he bought a plane ticket and departed to Mexico......
Upon arrival, everybody was ashamed of the great harm they've caused their only brother and son but nobody wanted to let the cat out of the bag. They welcomed him and he went straight to his bedroom. He sat on their bed and sobbed when he felt the absence of his wife. Nothing saddens his heart more than the fact that his wife was not given a befitting burial.
Three weeks after Ares arrival, Alice stood over the gas stove, pouring water from the kettle into a large teapot. While she was doing that the door bell rung and lo and behold it was Janelle, Ares childhood friend. She told the family of how much she shares their grievance. She was welcomed as one of them. As time went on she and Ares started having feelings for each other. Janelle spent most of her nights in Ares room. Soon the news of their reunion was known to every member of the family.
In no time Janelle became a part of the Washington's family. As time went on the Armstrong and the Washington planned their children's wedding and soon Ares and Janelle become couples. All this happy moments were just not enough for Ares to reconcile with his family so after marriage he took his wife with him to California. Everything went on perfectly well between the two couples and Janelle was soon blessed with the fruit of the womb. That was the greatest joy and wonderful news that the Washington has being waiting to her for almost 4years. They held a celebration in honour of the new couple way back in Mexico. The couples however were very confused and shocked as they were not expecting to have any baby at that time.
Janelle was a book judged by it's own cover.
She was opposite of what she presented to the Washington's family. She manipulated the ways of Ares in California. She became the head of the family and whatever she says stands in firm position. The new powerless man stood and worked for his wife whilst she sat and does basically nothing. " Are you just going to sit there and do nothing" asked Ares. She told Ares point blank that if he needs anything he should go get it himself because she is not a slave neither a mad. These shocking words took Ares aback in amazement and shocked at the same time.
Janelle turned their humble home in California into a club where she sits, drink and smoke all the time. Worst of all, she brought men into their home. Ares felt helpless and surrendered himself to alcoholism. He called his parents back home and blamed them for his ill-fated love he encounters in his life. The family realized the unbeatable predicaments they brought upon their son and the whole family felt very humiliated in thoughts. The thought of turning the family legacy into a nightmare were just too unbearable for them.
One fateful night on Ares way back to the house, he was knocked down by a truck. The accident was too fatal that Ares dead instantly on the spot. His body was identified later and news reached Mexico to the Washington about the death of their son. Janelle fled California to India and no news was heard about her again. She escaped into tin air.
Ares belongings were brought to Mexico and his body was cremated. His ashes were kept in an urn and placed on the centre table. His mother wept every morning when she set eyes on the urn situated on the centre table. The Washington blamed their mother and wife for all the evil doings and left her to her own fate.
She was home alone. She felt rejected and depression got hold of her. She had no one to talk to and spoke to herself most of the time. Anxiety gave her no freedom at all. She tried to hung herself to death but was saved by the timely intervention of her old friend who dwells down the streets. Her friend encouraged her that all hope is not lost. She should be focused on righting the wrongs and turn a new leaf. Those words of encouragement were short lived because more harm has been caused. This time around she did not hung herself but rather took in poison. She screamed and struggled with death until finally death won the game and her lifeless body laid in the room. Three days after, her old friend decided to check up on her again and see how she was fighting to gain freedom from anxiety and depression, only to see her lifeless body. She called 911 and the policemen were there to take control of the situation. She was buried by the authorities since no one showed up to claim for her corpse.
